Stand in a corner, find the highest point, so you want to be at the point where both border tiles give you "The slope is ?? dirts steep away from you." Every time you dig, you remove 1 dirt. Don't drop this, if you drop it, it will add it back to where you dug it from.

If it continues to say the second you want to move to the corner next to the one you dug from, drop the amount of dirt it says is too steep. This should now give you at least 1 level border tile.
