Description
A dark green stinking troll. Always hungry. Always deadly.

A Troll is a very dangerous huntable creature. It can cause large wounds with its club, as well as bite with strong jaws. It can bash down walls and also regenerate health quickly.

*Can pass through unlocked doors and gates.
*Can climb anything.
*Can bash down walls.
*Moves very quickly.
*Very dangerous. Can deal 50+ damage wounds on an unprotected person.
*Minimum 60 fighting skill with good equipment recommended to fight one alone.
*If killed, gives the title 'Trollslayer'. (note: You need to get 1 hit on it before it is killed to get the title.)
*When dominated, cannot destroy fences/stone/house walls.
*Can pull carts.
*Drops a 45ql, 15kg huge shod club, which can not be repaired but can be mended.
*Its ability to regenerate allows it to heal any wounds. No matter if they are very light or severe.

Fighting tips
Trolls are extremely dangerous and should only be approached once you're certain you can kill one. They have a huge attack range so if in doubt its best to stay far from one unless examining from in water. In order to be absolutely sure you can kill a troll, make sure you have at least 60 fighting skill and some good studded armour. A lucky troll can best even the most seasoned fighters, so make sure to bring lots of healing items. It is highly recommended to ride a horse when fighting them. Without a horse, it is a good idea to lead the troll near water so you can easily retreat if needed. Trolls can give a deadly mauling wound which tops up over 50 damage. This sort of wound should be healed immediately!

When in the 30-40 fighting skill range, these creatures are the best to train on with a group of three or more.

Trivia
You can take a huge shod club from a dominated Troll inventory but not put it back on.

A large heavy sword almost as tall as a ten year old child.

The iron two handed sword is the largest type of sword. This huge sword attacks at the same rate as a Longsword(4 second min. Swing timer), but when you hit, it will deal quite some damage.

It is wielded in two hands, so you cannot wield a shield with it. Fortunately, it is better at parrying than other types of weapons, such as mauls and axes.

Creating
* The quality of the wooden handle affects the success chance.

Notes
Previously, wielding this sword was not feasible when compared to the longsword and large shield alternative which offered superior defense and similar damage. However, due to changes to both weapon damage and body control, two handed weapons are now much more viable, sporting a fairly high parry rate and absolutely colossal damage at even low skill levels. However, weapon quality is of key importance with this weapon - as the damage and accuracy fallout on huge weapons is indeed, huge at lower quality grades.

The large strikes make Flaming Aura much more effective than normal, with 90+ potency enchantments adding up to 10 damage on a normal strike.

Two handed weapon skill can be raised by Woodcutting until level 20 on the classic servers. On the Epic Cluster, this is curved to approximately 11. Testing indicates that the training (skill increase) rate for cutting down trees is not effected by weapon quality.
Description
A fairly large two wheel cart designed to be dragged by an animal.

<span style="color:red;">Large carts now requires 20.10 mind logic to be commanded, but they can still be dragged at any skill level.</span>

A large cart is a mobile container used to transport cargo or player. It has a larger capacity than its smaller counterpart small cart, it can be dragged by a player or led by up to two animals, and it can be locked with a large padlock. A large cart can have a commander and up to three additional passengers. A large cart must be at least 10 quality for commander or passengers to ride it.

Subcomponents
* 1x small wheel axle

Total Materials
* 7 shaft
* 22 planks
* 4 small nails
* 1 yoke

Large carts can be difficult to start and continue at very low fine carpentry skill.

The last piece of wood will determine wood type of cart when attached.

Hitching
*To hitch an animal to a cart, lead it with rope, right-click the cart, and select "Hitch".
*To unhitch one of the animals, embark the cart as commander, right-click that animal and choose "Unhitch".
*To unhitch both animals from the cart, right-click the cart and select "Unhitch".

Hitching Notes
* 20.10 mind logic is needed to hitch animals.
* The large cart needs to be at least 10 quality before animals can be hitched to it.
* Hitching any animal will allow you to move the the cart slowly. Weight doesn't matter, only quantity. A second animal only makes it faster.
* Hell horses are the fastest hitched animals yet discovered (use to be brown bears)
* Animals cannot drag a cart over tiles that have a total slope of any two adjacent edges over 39.
* All the usual animal traits and statuses like hurting will affect their cart-dragging speed.
* Driver stamina is drained while driving the cart. Running out of stamina has no effect on the speed.
* Animals remain hitched during a server restart.

Animals that can be hitched
* Horse (adult, not foal)
* Bull (not cows)
* Bison
* Hell horse (young and adolescent, fastest known)
* Brown bear when tamed (young and adolescent)
* Black bear when tamed (young and adolescent)
* Troll when dominated (young and adolescent)

Note : the strength of a creature can prevent it from being hitched - conditions such as "greenish" affect their strength.

Security
Upon finishing the large cart, the last person who had the unfinished cart in the inventory becomes the owner. However if it was finished in the inventory no owner is set and the Manage vehicle option is not available even to the player who finished the large cart. Ownership can be transferred by the owner to any other player in the vehicle management window. *The no owner bug has been fixed.

The owner and any person with the Manage right can manage the usage permissions through a window available via the Manage vehicle menu option.

The permissions control drive (embarking as commander), mount (embarking as a passenger), accessing the inventory hold of the cart and managing the settings.
Each of these rights can be granted or denied to all friends, all villagers and everyone. The owner always has all permissions. <span style="color:red;">The settings only take affect if the cart is locked, however.</span>

The owner of the large cart can attach a large padlock to it to enable permissions. The lock can be removed by everyone in possession of the key, but only the owner can attach it again.

Another player can drag an unhitched locked cart regardless of what large padlock enabled management settings are used. Three simple solutions are 1) Leave it with an hitched animal or 2) put heavy things in your cart or 3) store the cart in a secure area. As an example, if you were to put a small barrel in a cart and then a bunch of 100 kg unfinished charcoal piles in the barrel, it would make dragging more difficult. Furthermore, management option will prevent these others from accessing the inventory or using animals to drive the cart away.

On Freedom carts can not be lockpicked unless you are the owner. Trying to do so will result in the following message: Stealing carts is punished with death penalty here. You decide not to.

Useful capacity quantities
The capacity of a large cart can be adjusted by stacking other containers, such as rafts, inside. Up to 7 rafts can be added to a large cart. Some items, such as felled trees, cannot fit in rafts, and are indicated as such below.
* Oven
* Floor loom

Notes
* The type of wood currently does not effect the texture or color of the cart.
* The quality of the cart affects its decay rate; there is no other bonuses from increasing the quality of carts.
* The volume of items will affect what fits in the cart. See the container page for a item volume list.
* Although carts cannot be dragged in water tiles, they can be pushed. They can be dragged through tiles with 5 slope of water or less.
* 26.65 kg of dye is needed to paint a large cart.
* The maximum weight a player can drag in a large cart is determined by the formula: (body strength * 7 - carried weight) * 10 - 240.
*As of 1.0 it is no longer known if the following is true. Use caution when building in carts: Items can be stowed in large carts during construction, but will drop out when too heavy and will encumber the cart during construction. If the item becomes too heavy to remove and too heavy to finish, the cart will be useless and the item cannot be removed. If boats are being made in it, then it is advisable to take the cart to the water before finishing the boat.
Description
A clay jar hardened by fire.

Pottery jar is the finished product of a clay jar that has been heated up in a fire. It can be used as a small portable container for items and liquids, for instance when making dye, lye or tannin. Pottery jar is also needed when creating a compass.

Method
* Put the clay jar in a campfire, stone oven or forge (hottest)
* Wait until the grey clay jar turns into a reddish pottery jar. It can take quite a few minutes.

Result
* Pottery jar 0.30 kg
* Holds up to 2.00 kg of liquid.

A hardened pottery jar can no longer be improved, nor repaired.

Notes
The jar can also hold other non liquid items. For example 16 apples (3,20 kg). More is to be tested on this subject.

Description
Archery is a skill which involves an arrow and a bow.

Characteristic gained
Body / Body Control

Method
To shoot you need to equip a bow in your hands and activate it, and then right click on your target. Make sure the bow is strung.

If you have a target selected (player or animal, not archery target), you can also use the 'ranged' icon if you have the bow equipped.

The arrows shot first are the ones in your quiver on your body, next are the ones in your quiver in your inventory, and last are the ones in your inventory. If you have an empty quiver in your inventory, no arrows in your inventory or in other quivers in your inventory will be shot.

If a quiver is found in the inventory but it is empty, no arrow will be shot. This gives you good control over which arrows are shot. Arrows are fired in the following order: 1. War arrows, 2. Hunting arrows, 3. Arrow shafts.

*The best bows are made from willow.
*Arrows made from cedar are easier to improve.
*Arrows made from maple take less damage.

*Quality of the bow string affects hit chance and the chance that it breaks.
*Quality of the arrow affects hit chance and the chance that it breaks.
*Quality of the bow affects the damage done.

*Archery has a lower hit chance during the night (from 21:00 to 06:00 wurm time).

*Wearing a shield can significantly increase the rate at which you block arrows.
*Bows work best when fired at their best range. ( For example, if you shoot longbow from 10 tiles you will be missing more than if you were shooting at 20 tiles. ) If you try to fire closer than their minimum range you will not shoot.
Long bow|| 10 tiles || 20 Tiles

Enchanting
In general anything that affects speed, accuracy or skill gain works on the bow only. Anything that affects damage works only on arrows.
* The following enchantments are known to work fully on bows : Blessings of the Dark, Bloodthirst, Circle of Cunning, and Nimbleness.
* The following enchantments are known to work on arrows: Demise spells, Flaming Aura, Frostbrand, Rotten Touch, Venom and presumably Life Transfer and Mind Stealer.
* Wind of Ages is believed to only work when practicing on an archery target.

Skill based options
At various points in your bow skill progression you get the following special shooting options:
* When you have 30 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Shoot Quickly option. <br>
* When you have 35 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Torso option. <br>
* When you have 40 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at right arm and Aim at left arm options. <br>
* When you have 50 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Head option. <br>
* When you have 60 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Face option. <br>
* When you have 70 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Legs option. <br>

Note: these options can be accessed via right-click menu (when right-clicking on the enemy with bow equipped and activated) .

Damage
There are a number of factors which dictate roughly how much damage you'll deliver when shooting a target.
*Height bonus, shooting down at your target will increase damage, shooting up will reduce it.
*Arrow quality, higher quality arrows do more damage
*Bow quality, higher quality bows do more damage
*Criticals, they can happen
*Armour, reduces the amount of damage taken when the shot is successful
*Enchants, bloodthirst on the bow and FA/RT/FB on the arrows boost damage
*Creature status (champion/greenish/raging) has no impact on the damage dealt, if it takes 22 war arrows to kill a scorpion then it would take the same 22 war arrows to kill a champion scorpion.
For players armour is a choice but for animals its a set static value and generally the tougher animals have stronger hides. Using BSB'd arrows for a consistent quality you can easily see the relative defensive strengths of creatures. Unsurprisingly crocodiles and scorpions are difficult to kill with arrows while mountain lions, rats and wild cats are very very easy. From this we can see that an un-armoured player has roughly the same natural armour as a wild cat. The damage delivered has changed over time during combat rebalancing so it makes sense to occasionally revisit how many arrows it takes to kill a particular target type.

At lower skill levels, net damage rate from bows is tiny compared to melee weapons. For example, with Fighting skill and relevant sword skill at 10, it is easy to kill a level 1 animal; with Fighting and relevant bow skill at 10, a level 1 animal has to stand still for you to shoot about 100 arrows to kill it. Considering that tons of arrows are needed, that arrows last only about 5 uses, and that each arrow takes about as much effort to prepare (improve) as a sword does, archery at low levels has an astronomical time-investment to fighting-effectiveness ratio.

Skillgain tips
* You may gain up to 30 skill in a bow type by practicing on an archery target. The main archery skill is also limited to 40 while practicing on an archery target. When 40 main skill is hit, you will no longer be able to gain any skill from archery targets. It is possible to to gain 30 skill in one bow type, then begin a new bow type until your main skill reaches 40. The curve does not apply here, you are still able to get 40 archery on Epic with an archery target.
* Although they give less skill than real arrows, it is best to use arrow shafts when practicing in this way as they are far easier to make and won't damage the target too much. Arrows that arent broken can be picked up at the archery target.
* Firing on the target from outside your bow's optimal range will increase the difficulty, and thus increase your skillgain at higher skill levels.
* Practicing at night will similarly increase the difficultly, so if you find the skillgain slowing you may want to practice when it's dark instead.
* Beyond 40 skill the only way to gain further is by using archery on animals or in player vs. player combat.
* Using other players as targets to train is effective at any level. There is a 3 hour cooldown, which begins after the event message "You will not gain skill for attacking #### for a few hours".
* WLers shooting same kingdom will go Hunted.
* Skillgain is affected by Sleep bonus.
* You can no longer gain archery and sub-archery skills from bred animals.
* Priests of Vynora and Fo cannot use bows.

Eleri: Added the *-marked note about cooked meat.

Description
Nutrition is a measure of how well fed you are, or how much nutrition is in your body; not to be mistaken for health or food level. Your current nutrition level can be seen by hovering mouse over the thirst/hunger bar. It is also reflected by the color of the hunger bar: darker green is better.

Effects
* Your nutrition level affects how soon you will become hungry, or the speed at which your food bar drops.
* High nutrition will give you a maximum skill gain bonus of 5%, while low nutrition gives you a maximum skill gain penalty of 5%. Nutrition between 40 and 60 will not give any bonus or penalty.
**At 60% nutrition you receive a 1% bonus to skill gain. You receive a 1% bonus every with every 10% increase in nutrition after that with a total of %5 skill gain at the maximum nutrition of 99%.
* Nutrition also has a currently unknown effect on wound healing time.

Nutritive food
Any food has a nutrient value. Eating food will make your body's nutrition level go towards the food's nutrient value. Raw vegetables, cheese, and raw meat have the lowest nutrient values.

For the best nutrition, eat the dish while it is still hot. Cold dishes will nourish you less, although you can re-heat them later. Note that your action timer will be different, saying eating hot meal instead of eating meal, for example.

* Raw meat may nourish you to about 11%.
* Cooked meat may nourish you to about 17%.
* Heart from a lava fiend may nourish you to 30-31%.
* Fish of low quality may nourish you up to 32%.
* Stew may nourish you to about 12-20%.
* Gulasch and casseroles may nourish you to about 40-70%.
* Meals and Sandwiches may nourish you from 60% to 100%. Eating hot meals provides approximately 8% better nutrition. As a benchmark, a 50ql meal will provide 80% when hot or 72% nutrition cold.

Note: This change was added on 8th May 2009. Still needing information on porridge, soup and bread nutrient values and decay rate.

* This may need further confirmation, but Cooked meat may have higher nutrition value, than listed here. (Slowly rose my nutrition level from 26 to 32%, may not be limit, food was not hot; 2nd September 2012)
Description
A wooden practice target made from planks and logs with a few circles around the bulls eye.

An archery target is a board with numbered circles around a central bull's-eye, used for practicing archery and bow skills. It will score hits ranging from complete misses to fine nines.

Notes
* A player will no longer gain skill from an archery target if the player has at least 30 skill in even one individual bow or at least 40 main archery skill.
- As of 31st August 2012, the note above seems to be either incorrect or outdated. The only limit for using archery target for practice seems to be 40 archery skill. When 40 archery skill is exceeded the archery target is no longer usable for increasing skill in any of archery skills (meaning archery and bow skills).

* The archery target automatically drops from the player's inventory when the last item is added to it during creation. It may be moved but not picked up once created.
