== The history of the town of Hammerfell ==

One of the oldest towns in Wurm, Hammerfell had its roots as an unofficial satellite of Whosville. After the fall of WV however, the people of Hammerfell struck out as their own entity. Settling in a narrow valley, we founded a small village and named it Pit because of the location and its mining effort. But the town of Pit was short lived. After a betrayal from within Pit met its destruction and we began searching for a new home. After exploring vast lands, Krelos led us to our home in the mountains. Here we grew in size and power and gained a reputation as some of the greatest road builders.
But it was not meant to last.

The great cataclysm struck and all that was ceased to be. We found ourselves in a new land of virgin forests and fierce trolls. It was in this place we finally took the name Hammerfell and grew into a great city. Peace was foreign to this land and raiders roamed free across the world. It was during a time of peace, declared by the gods themselves, that the raiders struck at us. They escaped with such stealth that even the servants of the gods did not see them as they emptied our storehouses of gold. Outraged at the gods indifference to this crime against their decree, we struck back at them in full force and crippled their base of operations. Or so we thought. Over the next few months reports of new attacks began to come in. Eventually entire towns were destroyed and many survivors sought refuge with us, telling stories of terrifying warriors who could not be killed.

In the end we too were assaulted by this mysterious force. They bled out of the forest near Hammerfell and walked toward the walls with steady complacency. Shouts went up and our warriors went out to meet them as the archers climbed the wall. When they reached our men we realised why they were invulnerable. They were the very same raiders we had slain many months before, now walking dead and unable to die a second time. Though there was far fewer of them, they quickly overwhelmed our force and made for the walls even as they were filled with arrows. All seemed lost and we were forced to flee the city with what we could carry. From a hilltop some kilometers away we could see the fires burning Hammerfell to the ground and sending a column of smoke into the clouds. All we had known for so long, destroyed in a single night. We also learned that our close neighbors and allies, Daargard and Asgard, had met the same fate that night.

Those who had the desire to rebuild returned to the city several days later. The long process had barely begun however when a messenger from the gods came. He told us that soon all would be remade, all that was lost would be regained and we would be taken to a new world. That night we went to sleep in our ruined city but woke atop a hill in a place we did not know.

Some of us chose to reject violence utterly and founded [[the Abbey]] of Lhasa. Others wanted to learn the dark ways and gain the power that we had seen in the undead. Still others wanted to pursue a peaceful life, much as they had always known. And so for many years, Hammerfell ceased to be. But now our return is at hand and we will raise up a great kingdom, united by the banner of Hammerfell. A kingdom of strength and honor, standing against the darkness that creeps out from the Black Altar.

New Citizens are always welcome, but be warned, thieves will not be tolerated. We are a very laid back, helpful and friendly community.

Rivendell is the new name, for a newly built town, on a newly created map of Wurm. But it is the 4th incarnation, of what the concepts and beliefs, of a small group of people (Northernstar, Clipcomet & Wintersolstice) who saw the need for change from within the game of 'Wurm-Online' was needed at the player level and decided to do something about it.

So Northernstar invited the noob WinterSolstice (then named Mrasshole) to join the town of White Templers on the northern Coast, one of the two nearest settlement to the Isle that held the Altar of Three & the White Light, the other was the Hidden City of Mist. Clipcomet took the noob under his wing and helped him out when needed. The map ended not long after and the last beta map soon would start.

When the last Beta map started WinterSolstice Joined Fathertime & a couple others, headed to the northeast corner of the map and found Haven Lake and the spot for the town of Haven.

==Leading up to the battle==
A week before the battle, Vynoran Champion Chumpy went by himself to Dark Citadel Island, to try and get casts to locate the finger. Using gems donated by [[Fort Mole]], Blackhorse Bay, [[Whosville]], and [[Kyara]], and casting during hours of low population, he was able to narrow it down to the hill just east of [[Dark Citadel]]. In hopes of getting one last close-in cast, he logged into an alt to see if the coast was clear, but it was not - Seth, a champion of Libila, was in the area of the finger, and had a lot of tiles dug up. Clearly, Chumpy knew, he was no longer the only one after the Finger. The race was on...

Having used Wwiiol to ferry gems down to Chumpy earlier, Wwiiol logged in to try to take a shot at the Libilan champion. Seth also logged in as Sunn to fight and withdrew Seth to a safer location. Wwiiol and Sunn fought alone (watched by some not so innocent bystanders) atop the Finger hill, with Sunn coming out victorious. Both sides now knew, if they hadn't already, that time was short to get the Finger. That a war lay brewing was evident to both sides, and the White Light assembled those willing to make the trek to [[Dark Citadel]], for what was expected to be a very difficult mission...

==Story==

The leaders of the armies of the White Light, after finding out the Finger's final location, led their troops in towards the sullen fortress of [[Dark Citadel]]. The army soon arrived at the dig site and immediately began excavations. The warriors of [[Dark Citadel]] sallied forth one by one to fend off the White Light force. The White Lighters stopped digging and prepared to give battle. A raging melee developed, deaths on both sides and casualties everywhere. Some Black Lighters were courageous enough to show their dedication to [[Libila]]; they ran head on into the White Light forces to try and hinder their progress. They failed.

After hours of fighting and digging the [[Silver Finger of Fo]] was finally revealed, and the White Light forces disengaged from combat and headed home for a well deserved rest.

==History==

Schmendict joined Wurm Online in September 2006 after hearing about it from his friends on a Ventrilo server.
Joining the very first [[Redfield|Redfield]], his position of [[Mining|miner]] was usurped by [[Player:Woot|Woot]] whom had joined recently. He became the town's chainsmith, and reached a high level of chain smithing before the reset of Gold, although disappointed at the lack of a [[Title]].

After Redfield 2 was disbanded due to a lack of activity, he, along with the other members of Redfield, traveled over to the [[Wild Server]] to join [[Dark_Citadel|Dark Citadel]] as a [[black_light|Black-Lighter]]. After staying at Dark Citadel, the members of Redfield decided to found a new village, [[Cruorem|Cruorem]].

He logged off an hour before [[Wurmageddon]], having just achieved his [[Digging|Digger]] and [[Woodcutting|Lumberjack]] titles.

After Wurmageddon, he resided in Cruorem with close connections to [[NeXus|NeXus]] on the Wild server, and was a potent [[plate_armour_smithing|platesmith]], until, after a long time playing, he and his friends decided to leave Wurm.

Schmendict was a hermit somewhere on the Home server, and was a testament to playing Wurm solo, having returned to Wurm after a long break. As he thrived deep in an enormous forest by a tranquil lake, he farmed and watched the titanic bird sprites fly overhead.

Schmendict now lives with some of the old members of Redfield, in an unknown location on the Home server.
