A post that rolf made:
:Ah okay now I see the issue here. I had to test some to understand what was going on.

:Yes, the higher faith you have, the longer it takes to reach maximum favor.
:The top points of favor cost more and more time to regain.

:So at 70 faith, if you want to stay on 70 favor all the time you will spend a lot of time praying after every small spell you cast.

:You will however always regain the lower favor points faster the higher faith you have. The :better you are at praying, and the better the quality level of the altar will always increase :the speed as well.

:So, basically: The most time-economic thing to do is to only have as much favor as you need to cast the current spell you are trying to cast. If you want to go fully prepared into battle you may want to spend time charching your favor to full though.

Anyone know what the max quality of gem you will receive for praying is? I was under the impression you would only get under 10ql, but recently I was given a 27ql gem from praying. Polan 18:11, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Polan

nope. that's not it. at that stage I'd not had an opportunity to heal anyone.
I heard a rumor that you get it from trading with people, but I doubt that. I'm guessing that it comes from something like item creation as I'd done a lot of that as a blacksmith. Or maybe repairing or something like that. Guess I need to ask Rolf.
BETA, battle,siege etc.:
Well in beta I fought in my first battle. Grunwald camp on other side of river got atacked by 3 blers. Most of us , like me ;( still were noobs so it was hard battle! At last, we grouped again after couple fail, everyone took their rakes,pickaxe, or whatever they had and atack! 17jk nuubs striked 3 bl camping next to token. Well after first one died from our gank 2 other start to run. Quite funny to see someone running away in full plate, who had killed you 2 time before :). #Put water in container.
#Container for water.

Items required
* Ash
* Water

The water:ash weight ratio must be between 9 and 30.

Usage
Used to turn hide into leather and creating traps.

Tips
* Quality of the lye is capped by the quality of the ash used and affected by your skill in Natural substances.
* The entire quantity of lye is used when making leather regardless of weight.
* A pottery flask with 1 potato and 4 corn in it will hold additional ~0,005kg lye. Keep the lye in a pottery jar or waterskin and fill the flask from there as needed. This way precious high ql lye will last very long.
* An alternative is to have 2 pottery flasks one empty and one with 1 garlic. Filling the empty one first then transferring it to the 2nd one it leaves an almost zero quantity to the first. Depending on what seed has the smallest volume it could be even less. This method used with a garlid results in ~0,0002kg of lye. Keep the lye in a pottery jar or waterskin and fill the first flask from there as needed. This way precious high ql lye will last very long.

Starvation is the state a player enters into after losing all of its 8 fat reserves or layers. A player gradually loses fat layers by fasting without keeping its food bar above 84% for a period of time. Once all fat layers are used up, the player will no longer be able to fast and the food bar will drop to 0%. To reverse this loss of fat, stay above 84% food bar for a while by eating food such as meals, stews, casseroles, etc.

Fasting usually occurs at 6-8% remaining on the food bar and this message shows in the event window: "Your hunger goes away as you fast.". Each fast will reduce a player's nutrition by 20% to a minimum of 10% where it cannot drop any lower.

As a player is able to feed itself to 100% food, it will become "full", which means the food bar is over 84%. Over time, being "full" generates fat reserves on a player which, currently, can be only be observed by having a fellow player right-click and examine the first player, which will state how much fat the player has:

* only skin and bones
* very thin
* a bit under nourished
* normal build
* well defined
* a bit round
* good reserves of fat
* extremely well nourished

Players will stop fasting at "a bit under nourished". Starvation will not kill a player as of yet, but this could be changed at a later date.
A large cart is a mobile container used to transport cargo or player. A large cart can be dragged by a player or led by up to 2 animals. A large cart needs to be at least 10 QL before animals can be hitched.
* 1 yoke

Note: At very low fine carpentry skills, it is a good idea to make a couple of extra shafts and planks.

Hitching
To hitch an animal to a cart, lead it with rope, right-click the cart, and select "Hitch". Up to two animals can be hitched but some animals may be too young, weak (underfed), and/or old to drag a cart.

Unhitching
To unhitch an animal from a cart, embark the cart, right-click the animal, and select "Unhitch".

Hitching notes
* For convenient speed, it is recommended to hitch two animals; age does not affect speed.
* Brown bears are the fastest draggers so far (discuss speeds on the talk page).
* The cart doesn't move faster when going downhill, but it will slow down a little when going uphill, just as if riding an animal.
* Terrain type does not affect speed.
* Animals cannot drag a cart over tiles that have a slope of 30 or higher at any edge; move back a little and go around it.
* Driver stamina is drained while driving the cart but it has no effect on the speed if the driver runs out of stamina. However, the driver might be in sudden trouble when being chased by an aggressive creature.
* Maximum weight animals can drag is currently unlimited.
* With a young bear and a young bull a speed of 12.96km is on a large cart over level cobblestone is achieved.
* Be wary if the animals pulling the large cart are wounded the cart's speed will be affected negatively until the animals recover.

Notes
* The first plank is lost if the initial attachment is failed.
* The quality of the cart affects its decay rate.
* The volume of items will affect how many can fit into a cart (see next section).
* Although carts cannot be dragged in water tiles, they can be pushed.
* 47.23 kg of dye is needed to paint a large cart.
* The maximum weight a player can drag in a large cart is determined by the formula: (Body Strength * 7 - carried weight) * 10 - 240.
* Large carts have a "Manage vehicle" option to set who (friends, village, or everyone) can drive (embark as "commander"), mount (embark/ride as passenger), access inventory hold, manage the settings, and transfer ownership. However, when opened, that name can't be changed, unfortunately.
* A keel section cannot fit in large carts.
* Can not be locked anymore.

Useful capacity quantities
*7 rafts
*18 felled trees
*73 logs
*328 pieces of rock shards (32x 200kg, 8x 20kg) or 6560kg
*100 dirt, heap of sand, peat, ore (312 Max if 6/7 rafts are used.)
*100 hull planks

Can be adjusted by stacking other containers, such as rafts, inside.

Building items inside carts
This is a precarious thing to do as sometimes an item must be on the ground in order to be continued or finished. Other times, the item may be too heavy to remove from the cart once finished or too heavy to remove to add the last piece, leaving the player with a 99% complete item that can never be used. A patch was applied in October, 2008 making it impossible to finish most items inside carts, including, but not restricted to, fountains.

A few amusing things that used to be able to be finished inside carts: altars, fountains, guard towers, forges (could not light), and mailboxes.
A villagemate had 100 coal piles in his large cart, only the dirts missing. that sums up to 50.000kg. the cart didnt slow down. --KaiH 14:50, 3 May 2009 (CDT)
Notes
<s>The cart doesn't speed up downhill, but it doesn't slow down uphill either.</s>
With the latest changes to mounts, the cart doesn't speed up downhill, but it does slow down when going uphill now.

Terrain doesn't affect cart speed.

<s>At steep slopes (20?) the cart might not move. You have to move forward and double-strafe (hold your walk left and your walk right keys), to get up that hill but it's very slow.</s>
This has been fixed and it seems that the animals don't move over a tile that has a slope above 27? of any opposite corner (diagonal opposite counts, too). The exact conditions are to be discovered yet.

Dragging
The formula applied to small carts does not seem to be valid for large carts.
I propose testing: ((BodyStr * 7 - AmountYoureCarrying) * 10) - 240.
My large cart has a boat lock attached, it is "locked" but I can access the hold, drag it, and embark it without the key being in my inventory but in a large chest in my house. Therefore the information added about locks seems to be errorneus. It's to be tested if only the builder of the cart can still access it, and other people can't, I don't have many people around who could test though. --Ulviirala 01:41, 17 May 2009 (CDT)
At the very least some of the portions of Gavin's section is no longer current. For instance, it states clearly that their should be no difference in the value of any JS item, but a 30ql silver ring has a Get Price of 19c, and a 30ql silver statue of Vynora is worth 71c.

It also implies no difference in the respective values of gold vs silver.
