Shiraek: /* House floors */

Main / Skills / PAGENAME

Description
Paving is the skill needed to pave dirt, e.g. for faster travel on roads, covering your yard to prevent nature taking it over, laying the floor of your house, or simply for aesthetic pleasure.

It is possible to pave under water; for example to ease the exiting of the vessel onto dry land in a ship dock/harbour, and for aesthetics purposes. With Body strength higher than 21, you are able to pave a tile, then dig it into water to completely submerge it.

Paving skill is increased as of December 24th 2012 by packing dirt.
Items required
* Rock Shards for making Gravel
* Stone Brick for making Cobblestone
* Slab for making Stone slabs
* Floor boards for making Wooden planks
* Pottery brick for making Pottery brick floor

Method
Paving is done on packed dirt, except floor boards on dirt or marsh. Activate the item you want to pave with, right-click the tile and choose Pave.

Higher paving skill and higher quality paving item give a faster timer.

Unpaving
Paved tiles can be converted back to dirt by equipping a shovel and choosing 'Destroy pavement'. Body strength of 20 and digging skill of 10 is needed for destroying pavement. Destroying pavement gives digging skill, not paving skill.

House floors
Paving skill is also used to build house floor plans. The minimum skill requirements are:

Skill || Floor
21 || Stone brick floor, Stone slab floor
25 || Pottery brick floor
30 || Slate slab floor
40 || Marble slab floor

In addition, a certain level of paving is required to build these kinds of floor at a given height. For example, 50 paving is enough for the sixth floor (counting the ground floor as first floor), but not the seventh, in either Marble or Stone Slab (others not tested).
Description
A Stone Mailbox fashioned in the way of a small castle.. - If enchanted with either Courier or Dark Messenger a message will be displayed: "so it seems to be possessed by something. (x)"

The spirit castle is a very difficult item to create, and may not even be displayed as an option for less experienced masons. Attempting to create a usable castle can be an exercise in frustration below 40-50 skill. (42% at 55.35 Masonry)

Item Creation
Activate a stone brick and use it on clay. Select Create - Containers - Stone Castle. The quality of the Stone Brick affects the success rate on the initial creation.

When continuing to build the quality of the items affects the success of adding the item to the Stone Castle. A small amount of damage will occur on the item if you fail at adding said item.

Usage
* Once enchanted by a Fo or Libila Priest/Priestess, the mailbox can be used to transport mail to other players. Unlike a bank, a player is not limited to only one mail box. You can pick up mail from any mailbox on any server at any time.

* Sending mail automatically removes a small fee from your bank; the fee is based on the item. Items may be marked as Cash-on-delivery, which means the person must pay to retrieve the item, the money, is sent to the sender through mail.

* To retrieve your mail, simply right click on the Stone Castle and select check mail.

* Mail can now be delivered across server borders but there is a warning from the developers that sending across borders is at your own risk. It also costs more.

* A failure on casting Courier or Dark Messenger cannot shatter the mail box. Enchanting multiple times has a chance of improving the quality without the fear of blowing up your item.
A steel lump is the result from combining a 2:1 ratio of iron lump and a glowing hot piece of charcoal to harden the metal. That means for 0.50kg of charcoal you need about 1.00kg of iron lump.

As of this patch, steel items now take reduced damage on use. Recorded tests suggest 20-30% damage reduction. This forum thread outlines some player tests and the results so far.

As with other metals, using steel to create items means you need to use steel lumps to improve those items.

Notes
* The iron can be combined into one lump as only the amount required is used.
* Iron lumps of 1kg or more, but less than 2kg result in 0.8kg steel lumps while larger iron lumps will result in only 0.4kg steel lumps.
* The quality of the charcoal affects the success chance as well as the likelihood the lump will be high quality. It would be wise to not risk wasting high quality iron on poor charcoal unless you have a lot of it.
* The quality of the iron lump caps the quality of the steel lump.
*A failed attempt uses up the charcoal and 0.4kg of iron, and results in a 0.4kg iron scrap.
* Only the charcoal needs to be glowing hot.
Description
Cedar is a tree located in far lesser numbers than pine, but is fabled for its valuable properties. Cedarwood items are known to decay slower, which makes it a good material for any item intended to last a long time.

Cedar trees look similar to pine but are aren't as tall when fully grown and have lighter coloured foliage.

Arrows with Arrow shafts made from cedarwood are significantly easier to improve.
