Skrrp: /* Notes */ formatting tidy

Description
Linking is the process by which multiple priests or champions can pool their favor together as one. This will allow the recipient access to your favor but not the other way around. The link is one-way only with the linker giving their favor to the recipient of the link.

Note: Also linking does not increase the rate at which favour regenerates. If for example you were to break the link you'd still have the same amount of favour that you would have had if you were unlinked. (Linking adds the 2 priest's favour together. It does not grant you faster charging times for a single char.)

Method
*Activate the god's item of the linker.
*Right-click on another player and choose 'Link'. They now have access to your favor.
*To terminate the link, right click a tile and select 'Link'.

Notes
*Certain high-end spells can only be cast by linking, as they require more than 99 favor.
*Linking can only be done by priests or champions, and only between those of the same God.
*The Event windows says the link works over 4 tiles but testing has revealed link hold over 200 tiles but transfer of favor only happens over a max of 10 tiles.

[13:00:28] <Sincor> [13:00:19] You link your faith with Lithane and he may now use your favor to cast spells while you're within about 4 tiles.

*The link will transfer any favor above 10 from the linkers first before using any favor of the recipient.
*The maximum number of links you can have is [(channeling skill / 10) +1}] Example - 5 channeling = 2 possible links, 72 channeling = 8 possible links
*In order to cast a spell while linked, the following 2 conditions must be true:
:#Total available group favor must be atleast the minimum favor cost for that spell. Available favor = [(combined favor of recipient and linkers) - (10 * number of linkers)]
:#Even if the linkers have enough favor to cast the spell, the recipient must still reach a minimum favor level depending on the spell. Example - Opulence or bless requires the recipient to reach atleast 10 favor, CoC & WoA require atleast 15 favor.

Starting out in Wurm!
Starting out in Wurm can be tough at first, but as long as you're pointed out in the right direction you will be able to thrive off the land.

Stats
In Wurm you have a Thirst bar , Hunger bar and a Stamina bar; these stats are your lifeline. This section will teach you how to keep an eye on each one, and replenish them accordingly.

Hunger bar
You must eat in Wurm just as we all do everyday. But in Wurm, when you eat, you gain Nutrition as well as replenishing the food meter. But as a new player you shouldn't have to worry about eating too much. This is because if your hunger meter hits 7%, you will fast which will use up a fat layer to boost your hunger meter back up to 80%. You can examine your body to get an idea of how many fat layers you have (generally, new players have 8 layers). See Starvation for more details.

Thirst bar
The Thirst meter is one that you should always keep in check. Thirst affects your stamina regeneration, which in Wurm is very important. As said before, your stamina affects the speed in which you complete tasks and other actions inside Wurm. Keeping your thirst meter above 80% will give you the best regeneration.

Keeping your thirst meter filled is very simple, so once again, no need to worry. There is plenty of water around Wurm for everyone, and it's never a problem for a friendly neighbor to share some. Keep in mind that most of the Wurm community is very helpful, and will either share their water, or guide you to a location to find some.

Stamina/Health bar
Lastly, you have your Stamina bar, which doubles up as your Health bar. This shows how tired your character is. When it hits 0% you will walk slower and complete tasks slower. You will need to stop doing tasks, climbing, moving, etc. for the stamina bar to replenish. Your thirst bar, as said before, will affect the speed of which your Stamina regenerates.

If you take damage, it will remove portions of your stamina based on how severe the wounds are, how many wounds you have, and where they are at. This will mean your max stamina will be reduced until you have either been healed by a Priest or have used a Healing Cover (see First Aid for in-depth explanation).

Finding a place to start up
Finding a place to settle in Wurm can be a somewhat difficult task. On some servers, however, there are villages for new players to stay, such as the Inner City Orphanage on the Independence(Freedom) server. These villages will allow you to learn the ropes of the game while also letting you gain skill levels and personal experience with the game so that you may move on without being totally overwhelmed.

To help you find a nice place to settle, these simple guidelines account for your new settlement.

Water
Water is a much needed resource, and should always be accounted for around a new settlement. Finding a water source in cave, lake, river, or stream would be great. It doesn't matter where it comes from, but you're going to need water to fill your thirst meter.

Mine
Ensuring that a mine is close by is important. Most of the things you'll be creating will be made from either stone or iron. Both of these materials are obtained through mining. A good distance would be somewhere close by that isn't a complete pain in the toe to cart back and forth between. Another thought would be to set up a small 'camp' inside the mine, be sure you have permission to do this if it's a public mine. Most public mines already have forges and Bulk storage bins close by to use. Creating your own isn't very difficult, see mining for more details.
Space
You don't want to be building on someone's building plans so check in local or kingdom chat to see if anyone is building near you. Space is important, so make sure you have plenty of space between your neighbors. Be sure to ask your neighbors before you start building, this will keep you on good terms with your neighbors, which may prove very useful for the both of you.

Wood
As a new player, wood is going to prove extremely useful in your future endeavors. Whether you're going to be part of a village or decide to go off by yourself, you're always going to need wood. Wood isn't hard to find, just look for trees. Before cutting trees down though, make sure that they are 'Very Old'. See Woodcutting for further information on the topic.

Help
Seeking help is very important, whether it be on the Wurmpedia, the forums, or in-game. Know your resources for acquiring help. Be polite in the CA HELP channel, on the forums, and try to check the Wiki if you need help before asking players in-game. If you need help by a player in-game, be sure to know your location. If you need help finding a map for your server, check >here< or on the forums.

These very simple guidelines will help you find your place to settle down. Don't forget that you can always join a village if you feel uncomfortable creating your own settlement.

Starting off
First
You want a house to keep all your belongings in and to keep you safe from all the nasty mobs that wont to gnaw on your flesh.

1. Chop some trees with your axe and make some planks, for a 1x1 house you would need around 80 planks and 4 large nails.

2. Use some off that left over wood to make yourself some shafts then use them to make a mallet head and a handle and attach them to make a mallet.

3. Next you will need some nails find some iron ore in a nearby mine or public mine (ask in CA HELP for a pointer in the direction of some) around 10x Iron ore will do just fine

4. Look for a public furnace (also ask in CA HELP) and light it with some kindling and a flint and steel, then plonk the iron ore in it.

5. Wait for the Iron ore to turn into lumps use a log to fuel the fire so it don't burn out.

6. Activate your mallet and right click on the lump (make sure its glowing with heat) and make a Small anvil.

7. Once you've got your small anvil use the lump on the anvil to around 4x large nails.

8. Now you have got the materials needed to make your house.

9. Now you should flatten the ground you want it to be (see Flattening for help).

10. Lastly activate your mallet and right click a tile click plan building.

11. Now just add all the materials to it by clicking continue building.

Second
The next task would be to get some storage up in your house like a Bulk storage bin or BSB as they're known as.

You will need:

1x iron ribbon

25x planks

4x nails

You may also need a food storage bin.

You will need:

1x iron ribbon

25x planks

4x nails

Feeding yourself
Foraging/Botanizing
Probably the simplest way to obtain food simply right click a grass tile and select nature then forage/botanize.

Foraging
Can give berries and some herbs, vegetables and nuts.

Botanizing
Can give you Herbs, vegetables and seeds

Hunting
Going out and finding a animal that's at your Fighting skill and killing it then butchering it with your carving knife is a good way to gain meat with the updates in spawn times.(see Animals for your Fighting skill limits)

Fishing
Fishing is the best source of meat when you don't want to risk fighting, to fish you will need a fishing rod

To make a rod you will need:

1x shaft
1x string of cloth
1x fishing hook

Cooking
To start cooking you need to make a Campfire to cook your stuff or you can use an oven but you will need one botanizing item and one foraging item. Add them both to a pottery bowl then place the bowl in the campfire until it makes a casserole.

There are loads of other dishes to cook but this is the most basic one, there are foods such as:

Soup

Meal

Goulasch

Bread

Stew

Skrrp: /* Epic Server Kingdoms */ spelling, link tidy

Description
Four main kingdoms exist in the story of Wurm, of which 3 are on the Epic cluster as well as 1 on the Freedom cluster. Also, there are player-made kingdoms (PMK) on the Elevation server in the Epic cluster.

To see the kingdom influence on your current server, use the <code>/kingdoms</code> chat command.

Epic Server Kingdoms
* Desertion : Home to the Whitelighter (WL) Kingdom of Mol-Rehan aka MR
* Serenity : Home to the Whitelighter (WL) Kingdom of Jenn-Kellon aka JK
* Affliction : Home to the Blacklighter (BL) Horde of the Summoned aka HOTS

All kingdoms on the Epic servers are at war with each other by default. While all kingdoms are in conflict over land and power, the blacklight kingdom HotS fights the other whitelight kingdoms over religion.

On the Elevation server, land must be claimed for the kingdom by building guard towers. When a guard tower is created, it claims the land around it for the kingdom and it is then possible to build a settlement there. On Affliction, Desertion and Serenity, land is already claimed for the default kingdom on the server and guard towers are not required to place a deed. No enemy kingdom can claim land or place deeds on these three servers.

If a player wishes to change their kingdom, they must be invited to join by a member of that kingdom, or go to the Altar of Three for MR or JK, and the Bone Altar for HOTS.

Freedom Isles Kingdom
This section is outdated due to Kingdom changes introduced on Feb 2nd, 2013. Changes need to be documented.

On the Freedom servers there is only one kingdom, thus, no inter-kingdom conflicts of any sort occur. There is no need to claim land for your kingdom. It is, however, still possible to build guard towers, though they are not required to build settlements.

Player Made Kingdoms
In addition to the normal preset Kingdoms, players can create their own Player Made Kingdom on the Elevation server. PMK's are independent Kingdoms, created by declaring independence with a specific item on their settlement token.

Notes
* On the Golden Valley server all players are Freedom Isles and new players may not venture onto the main server, though players before the tutorial may remain as Freedom Isles kingdom there.
* Previously it was possible to be Mol-Rehan or Jenn-Kellon on Golden Valley, as well as being converted to Horde of the Summoned.
* Kingdoms used to exist on the Chaos server in the Freedom cluster, but this was removed in favour of a different PvP system when the Epic cluster was released.

Cooking
To start cooking you need to make a Campfire to cook your stuff or you can use a oven but you will need a one botanizing item and one foraging item and add them into a pottery bowl then place the bowl in the campfire until it makes casserole.

There are loads of other dishes to cook but this is the most basic one, there are foods such as:

Soup

Meal

Goulasch

Bread

Stew

To start cooking you need to make a Campfire to cook you're stuff or you can use a oven but you will need a one botanizing item and one foraging item and add them into a pottery bowl then place the bowl in the campfire until it makes casserole.

There are loads of other dishes to cook but this is the most basic one, there are foods such as:

Soup

Meal

Goulasch

Bread

Second
The next task would be to get some storage up in your house like a Bulk storage bin or BSB as the're known as.

You will need:

1x iron ribbon

25x planks

4x nails

You may also need a food storage bin.

You will need:

1x iron ribbon

25x planks

4x nails

Feeding yourself
Foraging/Botanizing
Probably the simplest way to obtain food simply righ click a grass tile and select nature then forage/botanize.

Foraging
Can give berries and some herbs, vegetables and nuts.

Botanizing
Can give you Herbs, vegatables and seeds

Hunting
Going out and finding a animal thats at you're Fighting skill and killing it then butchering it with you're carving knife is a good way to gain meat with the updates in spawn times.(see Animals for your Fighting skill limits)

Fishing
Fishing is the best source of meat when you don't want to risk fighting, to fish you will need a fishing rod

To make a rod you will need:

1x shaft
1x string of cloth
1x fishing hook

Cooking
To start cooking you need to make a Campfire to cook you're stuff or you can use a oven but you will need a one botanizing item and one foraging item and add them into a pottery bowl then place the bowl in the campfire until it makes casserole.

Soup

Meal

Goulasch

Bread

Skrrp: /* Caveats */ - spelling

Finding Work
You do not have to work for other players but it is one way to make ingame cash and can be fun.

This page is not really a guide so much as some ideas that might help you earn some coppers.

Caveats
Finding gainful employment in Wurm is not necessarily easy. Most people who want work are looking because they cannot necessarily pay for the game with real life money.

Remember that there are lots of players who would like to earn ingame cash by working and that the people who might employ you have to buy silver with real life money.

In other words, most jobs mean that you do really have to put in quite a lot of time and effort to get paid and also that you wont usually find 20 people a day looking for people to do work for them.

However, even a couple of copper for a job is quite a valuable amount of cash to have to stick in your bank. It all adds up and, if you work hard, it is not impossible to become premium just by working for other players.

To be realistic, you may easily play the game for three months or more before you can afford to buy premium with an ingame referral or via a deed token.

Referral
(Requires checking on the details)

Every character that becomes premium gets one referral. They can use this ingame to 'give' one month of 'free' premium time to any other character that has an active premium account. So you have to be premium to be referred.

In practice, players sell their referrals for 6 to 7 silver.

The alternative to buying a referral or paying real life cash is to pay 10 silver at a deed token.

Looking For Work
Theoretically you can be paid to use any skill you have. You can be paid in tools, which you may then use or sell, or you can be paid in ingame cash.

Looking for work with a skill level less than 20 is likely to be an exercise in frustration for both you and your employer. You will be much slower at everything you do, meaning you will take longer to earn the cash and the employer will have to wait longer for the result.

The best ways to look for work are to:

*Advertise on the forums

Make a clear, no nonsense post that says what you are willing to do, how much you want and whether or not your prices are negotiable.

*Advertise on /kchat

Do not spam /kchat every two minutes. You will only get yourself put on everyone's ignore list. Ask maybe once an hour if anyone wants what you are willing to help with.

*Have a profession

"Hey I want to make some money, does anyone have any work? I'll do anything." Most people will ignore you immediately.
"Does anyone want me to mine for them. I have 20 mining. Please send me a tell" People will at least notice that you are being clear, to the point and courteous so they will be more likely to hire you if they want your help.

*Be reliable

If you earn a reputation as someone who turns up and sticks to what they said they would do, then word will get around that you are a good employee. Knowing that someone is going to do what they say often encourages other players to hire when they probably would not do so otherwise.

*Be patient

The Wurm job market has ups and downs just like the real world, there will be up times and down times. Take each job as a bonus and stick the cash in the bank when you are done.

Preparation
Always pm the employer ingame to make sure they are online and available to go through with the contract.

If you will be working for a deed holder and are not a deed holder yourself, always insist that they invite you to their village for the duration of the job. You dont want to die and have to travel across the server to get back to the work site.

If you are a deed holder yourself, then insist that they ally with you for the duration.

Types Of Work
Players can employ you to do just about any conceivable thing. Watch the forums for people looking for particular types of work that you can do.

Dirt
Yep, pay dirt. Digging is one of the most common tasks people get employed to do. If you dont mind spending a few hours digging up dirt and delivering it to the appropriate location, you can make very good money indeed.

Mining
Occasionally people want shards or ore mined or maybe an ore vein removed and will pay you to mine for them.

Brick Making
It is quite commone for people needing hundreds of bricks to hire help to make them.

Charcoal
Selling charcoal is an old favourite, though quite a difficult skill to raise to 20+.

Item Spam
Professional crafters may be willing to hire you to make items to a certain QL for them so that they can then imp those items from there. You can expect to get realatively low wages for this but you will also get skill yourself.

Fencing and Stone Walls
People requiring large amounts of fencing or stone wall may employ you to build them. This one is not very common.

Skilled Labour
High levels in almost any skill may earn you money from players who lack that skill or the time to use it.

End Note
Making ingame cash entirely through ingame methods requires lots of patience. You definitely will not become rich overnight, especially on a basic account.

Skrrp: /* Vessel Details */ cog - number of rafts updated from in game info

A ship is used to sail the seven seas.

Ships are made using ship building, usually started by combining two keel sections.

Most ships require some Mind logic (see Vessel Details)

Note: The small raft floats, but cannot be boarded, so does not even count as a boat.

Security
Without an attached boat lock anyone can use the ship. If the ship is not moored it can be dragged or pushed away.

The person who finishes the ship becomes the owner. This was changed in Summer 2011. Before that the last person who had the unfinished ship in the inventory became the owner. To prevent someone from stealing or finishing your unfinished boat make sure no one but you can get access by either building it in a locked cart or a small temporary house.

Ownership can be transferred by the owner in the vehicle management window.

The owner and any person with the Manage right can manage the usage permissions through a window available via the Manage vehicle menu option.

The permissions control drive (embarking as commander), mount (embarking as a passenger), accessing the inventory hold of the ship and managing the settings.
Each of these rights can be granted or denied to all friends, all villagers and everyone. The owner always has all permissions. The settings only take affect if the ship is locked however.

The owner of the ship can attach a boat lock to it to enable permissions. The lock can be removed by everyone in posession of the key but only the owner can attach it again.

To secure a ship from drifting or being dragged or pushed away it's important to moor it with a mooring anchor. A ship can be moored by the commander and any passenger but only the commander can raise the anchor.

On Freedom ships can not be lockpicked. Trying so will result in the message Stealing boats is punished with death penalty here. You decide not to.

Notes
*If you are building a ship larger than a small sailing boat inside a cart, it will become too heavy to drag. Make sure to move the cart next to water before it gets too heavy. See small cart to find out how much you can drag.
*The last person to pick up and drop an unfinished ship becomes the owner when it is finished. Dragging the container it is in is not sufficient.
*Currently there are no beneficial results from improving the quality of a ship.
*Ships with a quality of less than 10 cannot be commanded.
Finding gainful employment in Wurm is not necessarily easy. Most people who want work are looking because they cannot necessarily pay for the game with real life money.
