* The Blacklighter (BL) Horde of the Summoned aka HOTS

All three kingdoms on the Wild server are at war with each other for different reasons. The MR vs. JK conflict is over land and power (this is set to be the main conflict), and the MR and JK vs. HOTS is over religion, aka WL vs BL (this is set to be a smaller conflict).

On the Wild server, land must be claimed for the kingdom by building guard towers. When a guard tower is created, it claims the land around it for the kingdom and it is then possible to build a settlement there.

If a player wishes to change their kingdom, they must be invited to join by a member of that kingdom, or go to the bone altar for HOTS.
On the Freedom server there is only one kingdom, and therefore, no conflicts of any sort occur. There is no need to claim land for your kingdom.
In addition to the normal preset Kingdoms, players can create their own Player Made Kingdom. PMK's are independent Kingdoms on Epic, created by declaring independence with a specific item on their settlement token.

Notes
* On the Golden Valley server all players are Freedom Isles and new players may not venture onto the main server, though players before the tutorial may remain as Freedom Isles kingdom there.
Introduction
Wurm currently has three types of server: Tutorial, Freedom (consisting of Independence, Deliverance, and Exodus) and Wild. A fourth type called 'Epic' (scenario lands) is planned. Currently not much information is known about the Epic server type as it's still in the planning and development phase. There is also a login server and a test server (which can be accessed via the wiki - see the link bar at the top left).

Server type summary
Server type details
Tutorial server
The Tutorial server (Golden Valley) is where all new accounts are created. The aim of the Tutorial server is to introduce the player to the game mechanics. Players may then move on from the Tutorial server to other server types using portals. Premium must be purchased to be able to move to the Wild server. Premium time has no effect till the player leaves the server - the Tutorial server only allows basic accounts, so skills are limited to a maximum of 20. This means resource quality is also limited to 20. There are also no gods or altars present on the Tutorial server.

The tutorial was built on the Golden Valley server. New players are spawned in the tutorial area and cannot leave other than through the portals to the Wild and Freedom servers. However accounts that were active before the tutorial was created are currently able to stay outside the tutorial area. These accounts are able to transfer to the other servers, but some have chosen to remain. PvP, theft, deeds, and guard towers are not allowed on the Tutorial server.

Freedom servers
Fully owned by the native kingdom. The entire server is automatically claimed as kingdom territory, so guard towers are not required to plant deeds.
Theft, PvP, and other kinds of grieving are frowned upon, and are bannable offenses in many instances. GMs will police these servers as needed, but ideally the game rules should take care of things automatically. Moderators police the kingdom chat channels to ensure the chat rules are followed.

A second Freedom server named Deliverance has been released, the server can be accessed through a portal at the end of the Tutorial or by sailing across the South border of Independence.

A third Freedom server named Exodus has been released, the server can be accessed through a portal at the end of the Tutorial or by sailing across the South border of Deliverance.

See the Freedom FAQ for more details.

Wild servers
Wild servers are battlegrounds where different kingdoms clash together. There is no pre-owned land, it must be claimed by constructing guard towers. Deeds can only be placed within the territories claimed by the towers.
Full PvP is enabled between kingdoms, as well as internally within your own kingdom. The white light and black light are found on the wild server. Each kingdom on wild has a leader and offices granted to players by the leader.
GMs generally avoid intervening in wild server affairs. However, excessive griefing and other violations of the game rules will be punished as appropriate. On wild servers monsters are tougher and the terrain is harsher. [citation needed]

Epic servers
Currently not much information is know about this server type as its still in the planning and implementation phase. Epic servers will run scenarios that form the story. A scenario will have permanent impact on the world and the success is dependent on the players. More details have been given on the blog about epic.

Epic servers are up! Please refere to [Epic_Cluster|Epic Cluster] for more information.

Inter-server travel
It is possible to travel between the Wild and Freedom servers via portals at all of the capital deeds: Samling and Freedom Market on Freedom; the Landing, the Shroud and the Gold Coast on Wild. The only items you can take with you when changing servers are coins, nodrop items (e.g. spyglasses, bags of keeping) and the starter tool kit. Additionally, fighting and archery skills are subject to a 1% penalty when crossing if either is above 50, meaning a 70 skill fighter will end up with 69.3 fighting upon arriving.

Travel from the Tutorial server is one-way only. Only premium characters can transfer to Wild. All characters can transfer to Freedom. Once you are on another server you may not go back to the Tutorial server, unless you start a new character.

You can travel between the two Freedom servers via boat. Sailing through the South border of Independence will place you in the North of Deliverance, and similarly sailing through the North border of Deliverance will place you in the South of Independence.

Test servers
The test servers exists to test large game updates before they are added to the main servers. There is currently only one test server.
It's not one server its 4 servers, and there will be more. I think we should have the Epic Server Cluster page as the landing page
for it all. With links to each server in the cluster, and a small diagram like on one of those pages :) -- Zcul 00:29, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Player Made kingdom is a feature introduced with the release of the Epic Server Cluster on Friday, October 28th, 2011. To create a player made kingdom, you need to
purchase a Declaration of independence .

Founding PMK
Founding a PMK requires the following things
* Be a mayor of a settlement, and stand inside your settlement
* Have 50 players in your deed or perimeter that are neither moving nor fighting. They don't need to be of one kingdom.
* None of the players are mayors
* Own a declaration of independence. These can be bought from a trader (price 1 gold)

Once you have these, you can found a PMK with the declaration. The declaration is an item similar to a settlement deed, or a trader contract.

The template kingdom is currently either JK or MR. The PMK inherits all specifics and models of the template kingdom. You will be at war with all kingdoms, including your template kingdom. The king has the option to ally with all kingdoms, except HOTS. The game also supports custom PMK models. So you can submit your own flags etc to the art team.

On founding, all the players are converted to your new kingdom, your settlement is converted, and any tower in your settlement is converted to the new kingdom. You will become the king and your settlement automatically becomes the capital, and the spawn point of your kingdom.

You need to control 2% of the wild server map to gain the bonuses of the kingdom offices. Other then that, the PMK works similar to the other kingdoms.

New king
You can trade your crown to another player of your kingdom. If he puts it on his head, he'll become the new king. The other royal items are transferred automatically.

Disband PMK
When all the settlements of a PMK have disbanded, the PMK kingdom will automatically disband, and all of it's members will be converted to the template kingdom.

List of Kingdoms
* Jenn Kellon
* Mol Rehan
* HOTS
* Lómaner was founded on Epic Cluster on Wurm day, Week 2 of the white shark starfall in the year of 1018.

Main / Skills / Prospecting

Prospecting is a mining subskill for locating ore veins, flint, and salt in rock. To prospect, activate a pickaxe, right-click a rock tile, and select "Mining > Prospect".

Notes
* Ore veins can't be searched for by means of prospecting when being inside a cave; the player has to be on the surface. Surface prospecting of flint and salt is only for the single tile prospected; nearby flint/salt tiles can't be prospected.
* Gems appear randomly during all mining, and cannot be prospected.
* All ores are slightly regional. Thus, if an ore vein is located, it is likely there will be other veins of the same ore type nearby.
* You can also use a silver tuning fork of metal detection to determine the exact quality and mining operations left on a vein.

Skill levels
Anyone can detect veins within 3 tiles. At higher skill levels, additional abilities are unlocked:

* 20 (not on GV anyway): Estimate the quality of a vein or rock tile and detect flint
* 40: Detect salt
* 60: Estimate the remaining amount of ore in a vein

Vein quality
Rock tiles and ore veins have a maximum quality level.

When prospecting inside a cave, both "poor" and "acceptable" are displayed as "pretty bad".

* Poor: 20-29
* Acceptable: 30-39
* Normal: 40-59
* Good: 60-79
* Very good: 80-92
* Utmost: 93-99

Vein depletion
Ordered by decreasing ore supply. Some estimated values of the message added by Gavin.

* "Only a few weeks mining remain here"
* "The ore is starting to deplete"
* "You should start to prospect for another vein of this ore" (Definitely under 5,000)
* "The ore will run out soon" (Definitely under 2,000. Likely under 1,000.)
* "The ore will run out any hour (100 left)"

"The estimated values are not to be accepted as 'true', There could be all kinds of factors like it might be a message of total vein capacity, Not just 'whats left'. I noticed these numbers on a silver vein."
X = no prospect of that ore
<-- = last tile you did get a prospect
3 = I recommend you start mining here
</pre>

Realize that the world is 2 dimensional. All the rock and ore tiles are pillars, they are not cubes. You can ignore the height of mountains when prospecting. Only North/South/West/East matter.

When you prospect on the surface, you can detect ore in an area of 7x7 area around you. That's 3 tiles in all directions from the tile you are prospecting. Prospecting inside a cave is not done to find ores, but to tell specific details about the tile you are prospecting.

When you prospect e.g. iron ore on the surface that means that somewhere within a range of 3 tiles around you (including the tiles behind you) an iron vein is located. You then try to find the tiles where you can no longer prospect the ore. You need to find one North or South edge, and one East or West edge.

Then count 3 tiles from both those edges and the tile you end up with is the ore vein.

You cannot mine the vein tile directly from the surface. If you try to mine the vein tile from the surface you will get the message <b>You fail to produce anything, the rock is stone hard</b>, or <b>You cannot keep mining here, the rock is unusually hard</b> (only when you were supposed to get a stone shard, otherwise you'll get <b>You chip away at the rock</b> as usual. You will have to start tunneling in the tile next to vein.

Sometimes grass, dirt or other tile types hinder the prospecting. Try to find a large rockface to ease prospecting.

Or you can try this program out as well
+---+
</pre>

You will have to reveal all the tiles in a 7x7 area to find the vein.

* ‘O’ the tile you prospected
* ‘X’ tiles that need to be mined out
* ‘#’ you

Note that I left 2 rows of tiles unmined between mined rows. This increases your chances of finding a 2nd vein that is beyond the reach of prospect. As you expand your mine, this pattern should be continued and expanded to reveal all the tiles in your mine's area.
The console is a window for entering text commands to the client. It can be opened using F1 in the default key bindings. Console commands are different from chat commands, which are typed in the chat and sent directly to the server.

List of commands
Console commands are small commands to use in the console, to change settings. These commands can also be used in autorun.txt for defining key bindings.

; bind <key> <action> : Binds the key to the specified action. See the key section for <key> and <action> values.
; bind <key> "<text>" : Binds the key to a console command. Pressing the key will act as if you had typed the text into the console.
; cmd <num> : Raw fight commands, use with care.
; dump (debug | skills) : Saves the specified data to a file in the player's dumps directory.
; dump (binds | options) : Dumps the specified data to the console.
; exec <filename> : Executes each line in the file as a console command.
; fightmove<1-5> : Use fight special move 1-5. (No space in the command.)
; irc [server] [port] : Connects to the specified IRC network. Defaults are irc.heavenlyplace.net and 6667.
; ircsay <text> : Sends the text to the topmost IRC window.
; quit : Opens the quit dialog
; reallyquit : Quits the client without asking for confirmation
; refresh: Reloads the game graphics
; say <text> : Sends the specified text to the local chat window. (Access other chat windows using /tell, /shout, /village)
; screenshot : Creates a screenshot (in the player's screenshot directory)
; sensitivity <0-10> : Changes mouse sensitivity to the given value. Note that this only changes the senstivity when looking around.
; setoption <option_name> <option_value> : Changes a game option without restarting. Not all options can be changed while playing. Look in gamesettings.txt for option names and value hints.
; showbml <filename> : Parses the file as BML and displays it
; switchlight : toggles between old and new light code
; toggle (console | fightspam | fps | gui | healthbar | improve | inventory | keyboard_hints | skills | spelleffects | stats | target | wikisearch* | compass* | toolbelt*) : Toggles the specified feature. Most control display of HUD components.
; wiki <title> : Opens a window with the specified wiki page.

Legend: <name> is a mandatory argument, [name] is an optional argument, (name|other) is an argument which requires one of the listed values.

Key binds
The bind commands require special values as input.

<key> is based on Java key constants. Letters and numbers represent themselves. For other keys, search the full KeyEvent list if you can't guess the correct name. Meta keys can also be specified, e.g. <tt>shift-tab</tt> or <tt>ctrl-alt-w</tt>. Available meta keys are Ctrl, Shift and Alt. The "Alt Gr" key is treated as Alt (if your keyboard has one). The non-meta key must always be the last key in the combination. It is not possible to bind only meta keys.

<action> is based on an internal client list. The known values are based on autorun.txt. They are: <tt>NEXT_TAB, TOGGLE_CHAT, AUTORUN, CENTER_VIEW, TURN_DOWN, TURN_UP, TURN_LEFT, TURN_RIGHT, MOVE_FORWARD, MOVE_BACK, MOVE_LEFT, MOVE_RIGHT, STRAFE</tt>

In November 2007, more "keys" were added: <tt>FIGHT_DEFENSIVE, FIGHT_NORMAL, FIGHT_AGGRESSIVELY, TOGGLE_CLIMB, TOGGLE_FAITHFUL, TOGGLE_LAWFUL, ACTIVATE_TOOL1, ACTIVATE_TOOL2, ACTIVATE_TOOL3, ACTIVATE_TOOL4, ACTIVATE_TOOL5</tt> (there was no key option for spam mode)

In March 2008, more "keys" were added: <tt>TOGGLE_FIGHT_SPAM, GLANCE_LEFT, GLANCE_RIGHT, NO_TARGET, PREVIOUS_TAB, NEXT_WINDOW, PREVIOUS_WINDOW, EXAMINE, TAKE, DROP</tt>
Nutrition is a measure of how healthy you are; or how much nutrition is in your body. Not to be mistaken for health or food. Your current nutrition level can be seen by hovering over the thirst/hunger bar. It is also reflected by the color of the hunger bar.

Note: this change was added on 8th May 2009 and there is still a lot to learn about this feature. Please help by contributing any findings.

Effects
Your nutrition level affects how soon you will become hungry (the speed at which your food bar drops). High nutrition will give you a maximum skill gain bonus of 5%, while low nutrition gives you a maximum skill gain penalty of 5%. Nutrition between 40 and 60 will not give any bonus or penalty. cooked food will nourish you to about 50%. Nutrition also has a currently unknown effect on wound healing time.

Nutritive food
Any food has a nutrient value, eating it will make your body's nutrition level go towards the food's nutrient value. Raw vegetables, cheese, and raw meat have the lowest nutrient values.

For best nutrition, cook the dishes with more than just the necessary ingredients and try to add herbs and such. Cooked dishes are best eaten while still hot.

* Meat may nurish you to 11%.
* Cooked meat may nurish you to 17%.
* Gulasch and casseroles may nourish you to 40-60%.
* Meals may nourish you to 90-100%.

(need information on soup, stew, casseroles, gulasch, bread, and sandwiches nutrient values and decay rate)
