The gender of your Wurm Online character is either Male or Female. You can choose the gender when you Register a new player. You can change you gender to Female with /gofemale in game, but it cannot be reversed. There is a different emote package for female characters.
Gender have no importance at all for character skills and status, the gender is only cosmetic.
