Method

1. Equip the steel lump
2. Right click a large anvil in your inventory and select Create/Armour/Sabaton

• Steel lump 1.87 kg
• Large anvil

Resulting product

• Plate sabatons 1.70 kg
• Steel scrap .17 kg
