A spawn in Wurm is where animals are created into the world. Most animals are spawned from lairs but some will also spawn on certain terrain, areas of certain influence such as HOTS, or can be hatched. Tameable animals can also be bred.

Unique creatures are spawned initially at the creation of the world/map. Once a unique has been killed each month it will have a random chance of respawning. Exceptions to this are dragons; female dragons can on a rare occasion lay a huge egg which has a chance to hatch.
