Result is that most fell with 2 hits, odd one with three. Axe required a total of 9 hits, hatchet 10. Skill gain difference was to marginal to draw conclusions (favoured the small axe). [[User:Darkrider|Darkrider]] 10:28, 15 July 2007 (CDT)

Update, I actually recorded the damage. Here are the figures (for vo cherry):

* Small Axe Noob --> 10 dmg
 +
* Small Axe Iron --> 57 dmg

* Hatchet Iron  --> 52 dmg

There is a small variation, because very old has multiple stages. Because its only 4 trees difference between hatchet and small axe is not significant. I'll get to some more testing when I get other axes. 12:07, 21 July 2007 (CDT) [[User:Darkrider|Darkrider]]

I did a quick test, cutting 4 very old cherry trees down with a small axe and a hatchet of the same QL (20,15 and 20,43) with 20,01 woodcutting skill. Result is that most fell with 2 hits, odd one with three. Axe required a total of 9 hits, hatchet 10. Skill gain difference was to marginal to draw conclusions (favoured the small axe). Update, I actually recorded the damage. Here are the figures (for vo cherry):

  • Small Axe Noob --> 10 dmg
  • Small Axe Iron --> 57 dmg
  • Hatchet Iron --> 52 dmg

There is a small variation, because very old has multiple stages. Because its only 4 trees difference between hatchet and small axe is not significant. I'll get to some more testing when I get other axes. 12:07, 21 July 2007 (CDT) Darkrider

You should also record your skill with each tool, as well as the actual damage done to the tree with each hit (examine to see damage). - Dashiva 13:25, 15 July 2007 (CDT)

The damage per hit is what actually counts... Fruit trees do seem weaker than other. - Eliasthecrimson
