To clarify, You can only change village once every 24hours. Somehow becoming mayor counts towards that timer, Giving mayor away also counts. Best way to work around this is to trade the settlement form before inviting the prospective mayor. -Fencejumper

Should the time between consecutive deed drains be included? gavin tells me(forum question) that it is 24hours, is this a correct time? Stika 1 00:28, 25 March 2008 (CDT)

Could someone come up with a better way to format the "Details" section? It's completely impossible to read in the in-game wiki. Aeris 00:29, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Wut?!? - "When declaring war it will come into effect 24h after the declaration, unless the other side accepts it." - There's no way to NOT accept it? Arvid 14:24, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, that's only on the wild server. tbh I've no idea what the rules are for war on freedom server Manny 18:52, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, but though that sentence seems a bit ambiguous to me, the way I read it the war will come into effect in both cases. Shouldn't it say "unless the other side does not accept it."? Arvid 21:13, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

The spirit guards don't do the sign/lamp/banners/flags maintenance do they? If not I would like to change this because us who don't have guards might be confused as I clearly am. Syrinx 12 Jan 2012

Not anymore. They used to be required to enforce deed rules and light the lamps, but was changed some time ago.Malaclypse 10:19, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
060809 - You may now change upkeep plan even if there are no guards alive.
100211 - There is no longer a requirement to hire at least one guard on freedom servers for the deed rules to be enforced since that server is designed to minimize griefing possibilities. Deeds will be protected anyways. The requirement remains on wild.

i try with my premium to trade the settlement paper between my premiun and non-premum accout and it doesnt work so i remove that - BIGPapa

Player said "Enemies can drain from an adjacent tile and do not need to be on the same tile as the token, even if there is a wall or palisade in the way." is false. Tried from behind a tall stone wall and said "too far away" Snakegal (talk) 14:40, 28 September 2012 (CDT)

I had a dispute with my mayor recently over whether or not she (the mayor) needed to hold my writ to further expand the deed. For what it's worth, I asked in CA Help and had two people claim they personally have received the message that they may not expand their deed because they are not holding a writ. "Using a deed stake brings up a "Settlement Application Form" dialog. If you have sufficient funds in your bank an 11x11 tile deed is selected (with no other choices)." This is not true. You can select size, perimeter and the rest as usual. Just like when using a settlement form. Tekari (talk) 07:07, 15 November 2014 (CET)

Can newcomers become mayor ?

It seems that new members of a village cannot become mayor for 24 hours (?).

[10:15:44] <x1> I am trying to trade a settlement doc from one of my accounts to another - second account is a villager and I am getting this message >> [10:10:56] <x2> may not change village until 22 hours and
[10:20:57] <x1> <x2> joined just a lil while ago

Is this a known restriction ? Malcolm (talk) 09:29, 23 July 2012 (CDT)

Resize from upkeep/bank

Seems when you try to resize a deed, It will first pull from village upkeep, and if not enough funds, then from your personal bank.

Here is details on how i tested this:

[12:53:50] <mayor> You may pay up to 80 copper and 93 iron. <From my personal Bank>

[12:53:55] <mayor> The settlement has 17 silver, 54 copper and 81 iron left in its coffers.

[12:54:10] <mayor> The initial cost for the tiles will be 29 copper. <How much the new tiles will cost>

[12:54:38] <mayor> Up to 14 silver, 54 copper and 81 iron can be taken from the settlement upkeep funds. <From the last page of resize>

[12:56:47] <mayor> [12:54:39] The settlement has been updated according to your specifications! <Resized here!>

[12:56:53] <mayor> You may pay up to 80 copper and 93 iron. <From my personal Bank>

[12:56:58] <mayor> The settlement has 17 silver, 25 copper and 81 iron left in its coffers.
