Namespaces for Settlements

There are a lot of settlements listed on the Wiki and I suggest that they get their own namespace, regardless of their server or whether or not they longer exist. This would tidy them up into one area and also mean if anyone happens to create, or have already created, a settlement with the same name as a current page there would be little confusion. I know we already have categories for the settlements, but I believe they deserve their own namespace... even more so than wounds (which DO have their own). Thoughts? --purp 10:04, 21 May 2009 (CDT)

Seems reasonable to me, however what about the situation of two villages having the same names on different servers, how would that work? Robert 11:47, 21 May 2009 (CDT)
I like this too. rolf could make it so when u right click on the token and select "what's this?" u will see village's wiki page. something similar to "Player:" pages. Norill
Hm I don't know if creating a namespace like "Settlement:" or so would be the best solution, is there a function/way to "join" multiple categories on one page? Effectively there will be abandoned settlements, freedom settlements, wild jk/mr/hots settlements and epic jk/mr/hots settlements (8 categories total), the home settlements will either go to abandoned or to one of the other servers.
Settlements with identical names on different or same server (if possible) have to be linked on a disambiguation page either way (e.g. Existing Village (Freedom) and Existing Village (Wild)), regardless of having a namespace or not. Or we could just create a new Category, additionally to server-specific categories and just name it Settlements.
Either way, it would be a hell of a lot of editing. --Ulviirala 13:47, 21 May 2009 (CDT)
I'd be willing to do work on it.... if not all of it. We could always test on a few settlements which already exist... and we don't have to limit it to deeded settlements. If you search for Bees for example, it brings up an old settlement. If wurm ever introduced bees into the game (for honey say..) then this is going to cause a conflict. Just an idea, nice to see a few people discussing though. Any further ideas anyone? --Marni 14:20, 21 May 2009 (CDT)
Hm I just saw that the Category:Settlements sums all categories up pretty much, so I think they will be fine without a namespace imho. --Ulviirala 08:17, 22 May 2009 (CDT)
I'd love to be able to filter out all the village updates from 'Recent changes'. That would be quite simple if we put villages in their own namespace. Shouldn't be too hard to simply move them all there and I'm be willing to do it. --Arvid 12:56, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Volume and Capacity

I would like to propose adding Volume and Capacity to the item template. Capacity would apply only to containers (removed from other items) and would be the capacity of the container in liters. Volume would be the volume of the item, also in liters.

For binnable items, the volume is easy to figure out, as that is what the weight column represents in the BSB. For other items, this number can be obtained experimentally by seeing how many fit into certain containers. --Telarin 20:37, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Languages

I suggest we scrap the non-English languages section of the wiki, there are too few contributors to keep those up to date. We're having enough trouble with keeping the English version up to date --Manny 08:21, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
