I noticed that some articles use the period, and some the comma. I think that we should decide on one and add it to this style page. [[User:Jbobj|Jbobj]] 16:34, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
For numeric values? The usage is typically tied to language and region. In Britain, the USA, Canada, and Australia it's a dot. But in Sweden and Finland it's a comma. I'd lean towards the use of a dot since it's the accepted international decimal seperatorseparator. Or we could clear it all up and use the mommayez character :D

I also agree that we should use the period. [[User:Jbobj|Jbobj]] 12:22, 3 October 2006 (CDT)
The 10th resolution of CGPM in 2003 declared that "the symbol for the decimal marker shall be either the point on the line or the comma on the line". In practice, the decimal point is used in English, and the comma in most other European languages. ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SI Source]).
Hence, I'm wrong about it being the international standard. Both are. But as stated, the convention in English is to use decimal point rather than comma. Hence it makes sense to use point on the English portion of this wiki, and the appropriate localised substitution for each translation.
