Birch trees are a relatively common species that have been held in high regard for quite some time as the ideal 'fuel tree'.

* Birchwood will [[fuel|burn]] longer than an equal weight of other wood; however, it cannot exceed the burn time cap so mostly this bonus is wasted.
* Birch trees spread quickly.
* Overaged trees have a chance of producing [[Bark | bark]] when right-clicked with an [[awl]] or [[hatchet]] activated. Bark is used for [[Float|floats]] in [[fishing]].
