Gems can be either sold to a [[trader]] for varying amounts of [[money]] or used by [[priest]]s to [[vessel]] the [[favor]] of the [[gods]], saving it for later use. Gems always weigh 0.50 kg. They never decay, but vesseling can make them lose quality until they disappear.
The Black/Star gems are rare versions of their respective "common" counterparts.
All the "common" gems are equally rare and at equal qualities worth the same/stores the same amount of favor.

Some unique gems were received from [[easter egg]]s in 2006.
Another unique gem which is not found anymore was the [[Glass Crazy Diamond]].
