== Description ==  Taming is a Main used to make an animal a pet. You can only have one pet at a time, if you have a pet and you tame another, your first pet will become untamed. Pets that become untamed will return to their normal hostile / non-hostile stance; ie if the animal is normally hostile it will begin attacking guards and players.  There is a penalty to taming for Blacklighters; taming is still possible but with a higher level of difficulty.  Only animals can be tamed; for monsters you need to be a Skills/Priestess and a follower of MagranonNature or Libila. * A Priest/Priestess of Magranon at 40 faith can cast Dominate to tame monsters. * A Priest/Priestess of Libila at 40 faith can cast Rebirth to raise the spirit of a slain animal, monster or player as a zombie pet.PAGENAME
Description
Taming is the skill used to make an animal a pet. Taming allows for special features such as protecting the animal, having the animal fight with you, or placing equipment on the animal, if applicable. Not all creatures can be tamed.
Method
You can use tame an animal by activating an item that it will eat, then right-click the animal will eatand choose Tame. * For some animals its the item is seeds, for others its it is meat/or fish.** For information on what animals eat, check the creature's Wurmpedia page.* The QL of the taming item speeds up the taming action, for about 1 second per 20 QL.* Note: Food eaten while taming does go towards their hunger level.* You can only have one pet at a time; so if you have a pet and tame another, your first pet will become untamed. ** Pets that become untamed will return to their normal hostile or non-hostile stance; ie. if the animal is normally hostile then it will begin attacking guards and players.
==Taming skill Skill and status Status of animal Animal==
* 0-10 Upset
* 50-60 Loyal
* 60-70 Trusting
* 70-99 Loyal to deathExtremely loyal
The taming status can be used to know when your animal will go untame. Here is an explanation on how taming seems to work. When you tame an animal numerous times, then at a 42 taming skill, for example, your animal will have a max maximum "tamed level" of [42]. Over time, this value will decay, and examining . Examining the animal to check its status can tell you on average how high this "level" is, with "upset" being the least reliable status, as your animal could go untame without further warning.
If a pet is hit, it will lose loyaltyPraying to your deity can improve your taming level. Stronger animals lose Example:
==Handling a Pet==* A pet can be ordered to go somewhere or to attack other animals/(in PvE and PvP) or people(in PvP only). You can also lead a pet with a rope.* A pet can't be tamed by another person while it is your pet.* You can decide if your pet should go offline or stay online when you log off. Right-click on any tile or creature and select <tt>Pet > Go offline/Stay online.</tt>* You can give your pet to another person: right-click on the person and select <tt>Pet > Give away pet</tt>. They may need to type <tt>/invitations</tt> command first.**They must not have a pet, and their own taming skill must be high enough to keep the animal.
==Hitching Creatures==* Hitchable animals such as horses, while tamed, can still being hitched to a large cart, but the pet commands will not move them nor move the cart when ordered to go somewhere. Instead, they will stay on the place, and a message will say they cannot perform that action.* A pet cart hitched with a tamed creature can't be moved in the normal way (being mounted and driven by a commanding player).* A cart hitched with a tamed by another person while itcreature that is normally aggressives your petcan be mounted and driven. A higher taming skill If they go untamed, they will unhitch automatically and will probably make the animal stay longer as your petturn aggressive.* Only bears and hell horses of age aged and younger may be hitched to a large cart.
You ==Pets and Combat==* In PvP, players can attack your tamed creature, and you can command it to attack other players.* In PvE, players cannot attack your tamed creature, and you cannot command it to attack other players.* Bringing a pet into combat can be desirable, if it is strong enough it can give you a combination bonus and can decide more easily survive the fight. * Note that if you tame your mount, creatures you fight will often target your mount instead of you.* If a pet should is hit in combat, it will lose loyalty. Stronger animals lose more loyalty when hit than weaker animals. If it takes enough hits without dying it can go offline or stay online untame. This cannot be achieved with archery however; it must be a melee weapon. As a result, when entering combat with a pet, it's helpful to assure that the pet has the highest loyalty level you log off. Right-click something and select <tt>Pet > Go (off/on)linecan achieve.</tt>
You can give your pet ==Messages== Move the animal to another person (if they do not already have a pet). Right-click on person and select <tt>Pet > Give away pet</tt>spot or off deed before taming.
The QL of the taming item speeds up the taming action. It is about 1 second less per 20 QL. === Important Notice =Taming Skill Levels == As of February 2008, when Mol-Rehan was introduced, Taming was made much harder. While past mechanics allowed you to just try and tame again when you failed, the new system will make the animal go aggressive and attack you if you fail by too large a margin. Additionally, it will lose a level of loyalty when this happens. If that wasn't enough, all animals had their taming difficulty severely raised, making it nearly impossible to tame a champion class animal and a gruesome project to tame even an ordinary bear with as high as 50 taming. You are advised to take extreme caution when attempting to tame something, preferably by fencing the animal in and taking refuge outside the gate if the animal goes berserk on you.
If the animal has at least a single level of loyalty left after going aggressive from a failed tamingBeware: The following are recommendations, it will revert to its tamed status again after a while, provided nobody attacks itnot hard requirements. Naturally neutral animals such as pigs, roosters, pheasants and unicorns will also return to their neutral state some time after a failYour results may slightly vary.Also, don't forget that deed and tower guards automatically attack hostile animals.
If you are going to invest in taming then be prepared to either wait and hope it will be made easier again*00 Pigs, or invest enough time into it to bring it above 50 for it to be of any real use. But even then any 'decent' pet is still extremely hard to tame.Dogs, Rats, Deer, Mountain Lions, Wildcats*05 Wolves, Cows/Bulls*07 Horses*15 Brown Bears*15 Young Champion Wolves*20 Black Bears*35 Cave bugs*35-40 Unicorns*40 Crocodiles*45 Champion Black Bears*55-60 Hell Hounds*60 Champion Brown Bears*70 Hell Horses*90+ Champion Unicorns
Notice about animals Notes== Certain animals are much easily kept tame than others. Be aware that an upset status dog * The animal being tamed can remain tame for go aggressive and attack you if you fail the taming action by too large a day maybe two daysmargin. However, a crocodile at upset level or nervous level could un-tame any second since they are very aggressive animalsSuch critical failures become much less frequent with increased taming skill.   == A good guide * Diseased horses seem to be able to raising Taming skill == You'll need:<br>1x cauldron<br>9x meat<br>1x pig<br>1x pottery flask<br> andwater 1. Fill the cauldron be tamed with much less-than-normal risk of going aggressive in the water and put the meat in and cook it till it makes a soupprocess.<br>2. Get the pig * If you want to stop attacking a pet that has gone aggressive, move a few tiles away, right-click on ground and choose No target (if you havenhave "Display 't done so already, walk it off deedno target' in menus" option checked in Settings).<br> 3. Get the pottery flask and drag the soup from the cauldron * Only animals can be tamed; to the flask and tame the pig off deedgain control over monsters, you'll only take .25 need to be a priest/priestess and a follower of the soup into the flask from the cauldron.<br> 4. Tame the pig using the soup in the flask and once its tamed, repeat the process over and over till you have no more soup.<br>A good idea is to add four grains (ryeMagranon or others) and one vegetable (potatoLibila. For more information on this, refer to Dominatees, cornRebirth.* Taming can be done while moving, etcso long as you do not move too far away (two tiles) to from the flask before the souptile you are currently working on. This makes the taming use 0* Despite achieving a high loyalty/tame level on an animal, some animals appear to lose loyalty and go untame much quicker than others.005kg of soup* While not fully proven, allowing one cauldron it appears that higher levels of soup taming skill can influence how some animals react when a character is close to last much them (for example, cows no longerrunning when the player is near). Further research is needed.<br> == Taming Skill Levels
