Defensive fighting increases your parry chance and so prevents you from getting hit too much, but also lowers your attack speed and so the chance that you hit your enemy. Defensive fighting is best used with a [[Swords|sword]] as these weapons have a high parry change and possibly a [[Shields|shield]] to increase the blocking chance even further.
