*Sharp edged weapon skills ([[small axe]], [[large axe]], [[huge axe]], [[long sword]] and [[two handed sword]] can be grinded to max 20 chopping down trees. Woodcutting skill will be gained in the process.
*Another option (but more complicated and dangerous due to monsters and the possibility of upsetting residents) is: Go to an area that is not populated, or areas infested with unwanted tree types (i.e. fruit trees), and ask any locals before cutting down the trees; this helps to avoid angering people and the sharp pointy things they will stick into you ([[Wild]] servers).
*An additional option is to take a log, split it into 5 planks with a saw, then take each plank and turn it into 8 shingles with the saw. The planks grant Carpentry experience and the shingles grant Woodcutting.
