To find information Welcome to the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial. This tutorial will teach you how to feed yourself and how crafting works in the world of the Wurm. You are currently reading the Wurm Wiki, just type your request in which is an encyclopedia of information about the game. The Wiki is a collaborative effort by Wurm players and developers. In the search bar to your leftWiki you will find many different types of information such as tutorials, fan fiction and lore, for instancemaps of the world, if and descriptions of towns and items. If you cannot find the information you want to know how to create and use a catapultrequire in the wiki, then you can just type request help in “catapult” and it will take you to a page containing building instructions as well as small bits of info on -game using the catapult"Freedom" and "PA Help" chat tab.
As the Wiki is made by the players, do not expect it to always be 100% correct. Much of the current Wiki was written during the beta test Some of Wurm Online, and thus, some pages can be a bit outdated. You might also find that the Wiki can be lacking any information whatsoever on a specific subject, printed here is covered in more depth in this unlikely case, it is a good idea to ask ingame or on the forums. Just make sure that you have checked the Wiki properly to see if the information you seek is not there somewhere before you start asking, as quite a lot of people will just tell you to check the Wiki if you ask too many questionsBasic Knowledge articleIf you at one point should feel like you have the ability to add to the Wiki, you can [http
It as it lists all the skills you have discovered, as well as a number representing your expertise within that skill. As your skills increase you will find that the various tasks in the game becomes easier, and you will make better and better items. Skills decay over time, as well as when you die, so take good care, of yourself as your skills are the most valuable thing you have. Due to the time it takes to reach mastery in any given skill decay, it is important to specialize if one wants to have high skills, as they will otherwise slowly decay.
Spell effects, or “buffs” as they are known in other games, are temporary magical effects that affect your character.

The first steps
You move using the WSAD keys, and turn around by holding the left mouse button and moving the mouse. Pretty simple there. When you first start out in Wurm, you will be equipment in your Newtowninventory. Newtown is a town owned by when you begin the game developers, and is a safe haven for new players, but as soon as you leave Newtown you must be wary of the many creatures that inhibit the lands of Wurm. The most fearsome beast you are likely to encounter is the huge spider, a threat that will tear you apart in a matter of seconds. If you get attacked by an animal, flee across flat land or up/down/across a not very steep slope (using the W key and/or a combination of W+A or W+D keys). Caution: Some animals such as rats and bears can swim! Most other types of animals will stop chasing you once you have entered the water for a few tiles (this depends somewhat upon how deep the water is). By the way, don't worry about drowning because your character will auto-swim if the water is too deep for enable you to walkobtain these items. Village guards will attack and kill most aggressive creatures that enter deeded land so if you can make it into a deeded area (such as New Town) you should be safe. The first 24 hours === 1. Ingredients ===* To forage for food ingredients, find a patch of your Wurm playing time (real life time spent ingame) you can get free food at the bistro in Newtowngrass, but after that you are and right-click on your owna grass tile then select Nature > Forage.* You will have to forage many different grass patches to obtain ingredients, so and it is a good idea 's best to spend some of these hours learning to feed yourselfmove away from densely populated areas for this, as each grass patch can only be foraged once in any 24-hour real-life period. To feed yourself properly Hence, you will need to find grass that nobody has foraged in the last 24 hours.* Find a few things:berries, nuts, and herbs before moving on to stage 2 of this tutorial.
*A === 2. Pottery Bowl ===# You will need clay to make a pottery bowl. Clay is found near water.# There are clay tiles just outside of Newtown located to the north and east by the edge of the water.# Once you find a clay tile, open your inventory and double-click your shovel to 'activate' it.# With the shovel active, right-click on a clay tile and select dig.# You should then obtain a piece of clay in your inventory. Find your right hand in the Body inventory and double-click it to make it active.# Right-click on the clay and select Create > Containers > Clay bowl.# If creation of the bowl fails, repeat the steps until you succeed. If you make an unfinished clay bowl, keep trying until you make a finished one. As with anything else in Wurm, you will fail often when first trying something. Be patient and keep trying.*Some ingredients for food# Make a few clay bowls and perhaps also a clay jar while you're at it.*Fire# Clay bowls must be fired into pottery bowls before they become useful.
All of these items can be gathered and made with the starter kit, I will show you how.

We will get some food ingredients first. To get these, you will need to find a bunch of grass tiles and forage and botanize them.

The foraging step can also be done at a later point, which is probably better as the area around Newtown is pretty heavily foraged by other people in the same situation as you. smiley

Once you have found a few berries, nuts and spices it is time to go for the next items, a pottery bowl and some fire. First of all you will need to find a clay tile. Clay is always found near water, so following the coast for a bit would be a good start. The following pictures will be taken by a clay pit West-southwest of Newtown, quite a swim there. When you are travelling, try to steer clear of animals you meet, staying 5 tiles away should be enough for all animals you will see.

Once you find a clay tile, stand on it and dig with your shovel. To do this, activate your shovel, right click the clay tile and select dig. This will take about 11 seconds if you have full stamina.
Once you have a piece of clay in your inventory, you must activate your right hand (sounds silly, I know). Activate it and right click on the clay. Select create -> containers -> clay bowl. If you fail at first, try again until you succeed. If you make an unfinished clay bowl, keep trying until you make a finished one, but save the unfinished for when you have the tools to finish it. Make a few clay bowls and a jar this way, and continue to the next step.

To make the clay bowls into pottery you will need to heat them in a fire, which leads us to the final item for making food; the campfire. Find a tree, they look like this:

Once you find a batch of trees, go around examining them until you find one that says either “old” or “very old”. These trees give the most wood, and as thus, are the best to chop down. Activate your small axe and chop the tree. It will take a few chop actions, you can see how much damage the tree has by examining it.

Note: I do not recommend cutting down fruit trees, if you can find a pine, cedar, maple or birch tree, chop down that one instead, as you will need more wood for fuel. Fruit trees give very little wood.
Once it reaches 100 damage, it will disappear and a felled tree or a log will be in front of you. If it is a felled tree, right click it and select “chop up” to make a log. Once you have a log in front of you, right-click it and select “take”. You will now have the log in your inventory. With your small axe activated, right-click the log and select create -> miscellaneous -> kindling.

Once you have a kindling, you can make a campfire. To do this, activate your steel and flint and right-click the kindling. Select create -> containers -> campfire.

If you succeed, you will make a campfire in front of you:

Note: The campfire needs fuel to burn. If have more log, activate it and right-click the fire and select burn. You will need to fuel the fire with about 20 kg of wood every hour or so, you can see its status by examining. If it does not say “The fire burns steadily and will burn for a long time.” You need to put on fuel.
Now you need to put your clay bowls and jar into the fire and wait for them to turn into pottery. To do this, open the campfire and drag the items from your inventory window to the campfire window. The items will take quite a while to heat up, while they do this, you can try making some different items from your log, botanize and forage more, or do something completely different, just make sure to examine the fire from time to time to see if it needs fuel. Scrap wood can be burned too or made into more kindling. It is a good idea to put all your berries, nuts and spices into the fire as well (not inside the bowls), so they can heat up.
Once the clay bowl have turned into a pottery bowl, this will happen once the clay bowl has been glowing from heat for a while, take it out of the fire as well as the spices and berries. Now drag one berry and one spice onto the pottery bowl in your inventory so they are located inside the bowl and examine it. If it says something about casserole, put the pottery bowl inside the fire again (with the stuff in it), and click the + next to it. If you can still see the ingredients, they have not been warm enough, and you should continue feeding the fire until they disappear and a casserole appears instead. If you see the word “casserole” when you click the +, you have successfully made your first food. Take the pottery bowl out of the fire and eat the casserole if you are hungry. If not, save it for a rainy day by taking it out of the bowl and putting it in your backpack.

Now know, the food you make here at first is very bad, and will not fill you up very much, but it will fill you enough to make you able to work and have decent stamina regeneration, which is key for everything in Wurm. When you cook more food, your cooking skill will increase and you will make better and better food. Once you gain access to meat, fish and vegetables and have a frying pan, you can start making meals much the same way as the casserole, just with other ingredients. Meals are special since they can fill you 100%.
Congratulations! You have now finished the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial!
