*To create a pile of dirt on the ground without raising the terrain
** right click dirt in your inventory, then select <code>Drop -> As Pile</code>
** old method: drop at least 4 other items ([[wood scraps]] are good for this) so that a [[pile of items]] is created, open the new pile and then drop the dirt into it. After dropping the dirt, take the wood scraps (or item you used) out. The same thing works for [[heap of sand]]).
*Dirt is used in the creation of [[charcoal pile]]s.
