Well, its Literally a pile of items. Each pile can hold only 100 items, not counting anythat are in [[container]]s, though the containers themselves are counted as items. Putting [[dirt]] into a pile of items and then removing the other items forms a [[pile of dirt]], which does not raise the tiles below it, allowing for easy storage.
