== How Rarity, Mining Bonus Data_Max Imbue and Skill Affect Max Ore Quality ==By Dirk (11/07/2022) NOTE: These data were collected after the recent updadte to mining imbue that happend a month or two ago.
Here '''1) Too Long Didn't Read''': Below are some data on how the bonus to max quality ore from [[Rarity_system|rarity ]] and [[Potion_of_mining|mining imbue]] and how it changes with skill. The bonus to your max ql seems to decrease as your skill increases. You can use the formulas below to calulate what skill you need to get the ore you want or vise versa by solving for x or y, or just plot the data yourself. I'm not sure if it's relevant but my pickaxe skill was always 1-2 points above my mining skill when these data were collected.
1In summary, the higher your skill, the smaller the bonus is from rarity and mining imbue. Many people have speculated or casually observed this, the data below proves it.   '''2) To Calculate Max QL From Skill Or Vice Versa''': You can use the formulas below to calulate what skill you need to get the ore you want or vice versa. - Plug in any mining skill for X and solve for Y to get the max ore ql. - Plug in any max ore ql for Y and solve for X to get the skill you would need to obtain that max ql ore.   Supreme (100 imbue): y=0.5861x+41 Rare (no imbue) Using : y=0.9187x+7.9445  Can someone teach me how to make these into a supreme pickaxe with calculator??? PM Dirk in game on WO.  '''3) Skill vs Max QL Data For Supreme Pickaxe With 100 mining imbueMining Imbue:'''
If you plot skill (x) and max ore ql (y) you get y=0.5861x+41. The R squared correlation is 0.9999 (this would be 1 if the data was perfect; 0.9999 is really good).

Predicted Some predicted Max QL ore (w/supreme pic + 100 imbue):
-Skill needed to get 100 ql ore: 100.66*
-Skill needed to get 93 ql ore: 88.72
* Note: the 100ql ore predition prediction is probably high because the game rounds to the 100ths place on the ore QL, and I only rounded to 3 decimal places on the skill data.

2'''4) Using a Skill vs Max QL Data For Rare pickaxe with no imbuePickaxe With No Imbue:'''
The formula for this one is y=0.9187x+7.9445 (R-squared = 1).

Pedicted max ore QL (with rare pic):
-Skill needed to get 70 ql ore: 67.54
* Note: the 100ql ore predition prediction is probably high because the game rounds to the 100ths place on the ore ql, and I only rounded to 3 decimal places on the skill data.  '''5) Additional Notes:'''  -The above data were collected after the update to mining imbue that happened fall of 2022. -I'm not sure if it's relevant, but my pickaxe skill was always 1-2 points above my mining skill when these data were collected and both supreme and rare pickaxes were around 90 ql. The supreme pickaxe also had the +10% gather rune which does not currently affect the max ql. -Here's a post and graph by Retrograde from 12/29/2020 on gather imbue: https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/181865-imbue-rework-formula/\ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10akDYPouIPWjcd-UAQ9-n1Jrv1KU0u2MvgqXlBoIOkY/edit#gid=0 - Supreme Pickaxe (no imbue): *** assuming Retrograde's formula is still accurate*** if you subtract the max ql in Retro's spreadsheet from the max ql data for supreme w/ 100 imbue, that should give you the corresponding data for supreme with no imbue. The supreme bonus is 2x the rare bonus, which is agrees with what's known about supreme vs rare bonuses. Examples: At 90 mining, the 100 imbue is giving you +2.5 ql and supreme is giving you +1.27 ql (rare bonus at 90 skill is +0.64).  At 85 mining, the 100 imbue is giving you +3.75 ql and supreme is giving you +2.0685 ql. (rare bonus at 85 skill is +1.034) At 80 mining, the 100 imbue is giving you +5.0 ql and supreme is giving you +2.888 ql. (rare bonus at 80 skill is +1.44) -Rare Pickaxe (100 imbue): Again assuminng Retro's formula is still accurate, you can just add the imbue bonus to the rare (no imbue) data above to predict the max qualities using a rare pickaxe with 100 imbue.
