Building a house is a player's first step in developing his life and character in Wurm Online. A house enables players to settle down and secure their items from other players. It also provides shelter in case you need to hide from [[enemy|enemies]] or other players.
This guide will cover the basics of building a house and will teach some additional tips and tricks. Let's start off with the prerequisites to building a house.

Prior to starting a house, you will need to make sure a few things are in order. Nobody likes running into a wall or stalling their work. We're starting from scratch in this tutorial so in order to follow this guide, you will need at least:

* A [[steel and flint]]
* Level 5 [[carpentry]] [[skill]]

*With your hatchet still activated, right-click the felled tree and select the Chop Up option in order to create logs from the tree.
