Heaps of sand can also be used with [[Clay|clay]] to make [[Mortar|mortar]] which is used for building stone houses.
To make a "pile of heap of sand" (a sand pile), first drop some items on the ground until a "pile of items" crate appears. Then open it and drop whatever sand you have in your inventory into it. Remove the items, and leave the sand, and the pile of items will become a pile of sand. The same thing works with [[dirt]].
