Woodsman's Locksmithing Guide

These are a few notes which i took the time to write down whilst Locksmithing and i think they are fairly accurate so bear with me.

Firstly you will need a Small anvil to start off with so you can make the basic locks, you also need to mine iron ore for the Iron lumps, a Forge would be best, but a campfire will do ok.

Firstly simply light your forge using the flint provided to you in your inventory, [You must have a kindling first] and make sure you have plenty of fuel in the form of peat/logs. You must of course wait for the ore to start glowing, or the lumps if they are already made to start glowing with heat. It is useful to have a high quality forge also as it Firstly makes your fire last longer and secondly heats your items up faster. When the lumps are glowing with heat, take them from the fire into your inventory and the anvil also if you don't already have it in your inventory. Double click the anvil to equip it then right click the glowing lump, go to create then to locks. Create a Few of each, Door locks do not have keys as Small padlocks and Large padlocks have. I noticed after making 4 Dor locks, 5 Small Padlocks and Large padlocks then success rate went up.

Large Padlock - 31& - 32% Door Lock - 37% - 39% Small Padlock - 31% - 32%

After making 5 Large padlocks, 5 Small padlocks and 5 Door locks, my Locksmithing skill was 2.00.

Keyforming

After this is suggest you use keyform which makes your skill go much much faster than making the actual locks, to make keyform all you have to do is dig some clay, double click it and right click a key - Create - Keyform.

After making 5 Molds the success rate rises from 48% - 49%.

This only happens to one type of Padlocks key at a time, Example - 5 Times on Small padlock 48% - 49%, 0 Times on Large padlock - 48%.

Therefore if you get higher success rate on small padlock or whatever padlock it does not effect the other types.

Even then, the success rate system on keyform works oddly. It varies, for example - If i were to have the +1 Sucess rate from key forming on A Large padlock key, and if i try to keyform and Large padlock key i sometimes would not have that +1 Sucess rate.

My Advice would be to, after you get +1 Success rate, find the ones without and train the keyform on them.

Later while keyforming it goes to 50% then soon after 52%.

Will add more when i have the time and find more information on it.
