The smelting pot does not need to be heated in order to smelt an item. Confirmed via testing with a cold smelting pot and glowing dimly large nails. This can also be confirmed via the error message received when attempting to smelt an item that is too cold: "The large nails needs to be glowing hot to be smelted."
==Creation==
It is created by placing a [[clay smelting pot]] into a [[campfire]], [[forge]], [[oven]], or [[kiln]].
==Usage==
To smelt an item using the it must first be heated to at least glowing dimly, preferably glowing brightly or hotter. The smelting pot, does not need to be heated. [[activateActivate]] the glowing hot smelting pot, right-click the glowing hot metal item, and select '''Smelt'''. The material will appear as a metal [[lump]] in place of the item.
==Notes==
* The quality of the resulting lump is capped by the quality of the smelting pot, but is otherwise equal to the item that was smelted.
* There are no known size limitations for items the smelter can smelt. The item only need needs to be metal, not enchanted, and able to be heated to a red, glowing sufficiently hot temperature state.* The "'Smelt'" action is not available if any of the involved items item is not glowing from heatdimly or hotter.
* Smelting a rare or better metal item will produce a corresponding rare or better lump.
* A small amount of metal from the original item is typically lost to the smelting process.
