Cutting down a young or mature tree will yield a very low amount of wood and will be a waste of a tree. Optimum time to cut down a tree is when it is either old, or very old. If a tree says it is shriveled then it will also yield a very small amount of wood.
When it comes to the ages of animals, the ages are Young, Adolescent, Mature, AgeAged, Old, Venerable. Animals take several months to reach the venerable stage. Normal animals will die sometime after reaching the venerable stage.
Animal age does not effect fighting capability. However, older animals are likely to have survived at least some fights, which does increase their fight skill.
