Changing time of wurm links to wurm universe
Animal husbandry allows for the production (breeding) of new creatures, sometimes with increased quality, without the need to wait for new spawns.
Characteristics gained
Soul / Soul depth
== Method Grooming ==*Both of the animals you wish to breed must be not hungry. One must be a male and the other one a female. Lead one of them with a rope (note that some animals must be tamed to be led) and move it close to the other one. Right-click on Grooming is the animal you are not leading and select the "Breed" option.*Grooming also main activity which gives animal husbandry skill gains. Activate a grooming brush and select groom while right-clicking on a groomable creature. You can groom animals once per hour .
== Notes ==* Animals must be of the same species.* If breeding fails, you will receive a message that the male "shys away and interrupts the action".* If breeding fails or is successful and you attempt to breed again, the male animal will show that he's "not in the mood" until 45 real life minutes pass.* Females will not breed while they are pregnant. Once the female gives birth, she will not be in mood for breeding for 24 more hours, after which breeding may resume.* Animals do not have to be "fat" to breed, only "no longer interested in food" (when trying to feed them). Grass eaters will typically be in this state after Activate a minute or 2 on grass or crops.* Agegrooming brush is a factor in breeding: calves or foals will not breed, neither will young/early adolescent animals.* Breeding increases a player's soul depth.* Pregnancy times varies from 5-11 wurm weeks, regardless of species. * Examining the animal will show the remaining wurm weeks left until birth. eg. and select She will deliver in about 4groom* Animals can have miscarriages which can kill the mother with no child spawned. Starving, offwhile right-deed, or clicking on-deed below 15 ratio are known as the reasons for miscarriagesa groomable creature.* If too hungry or low on fat animals This can die when giving birth.* Breeding female animals with conditions such as Champion will provide a chance that the offspring will also have that characteristic. This chance is dramatically increased when breeding two animals with the same condition together. (Two Champions for example.)* Breeding two animals with the same trait greatly increases the chance that the offspring will have the trait.* The name is determined at birth, the traits are determined at breeding (noticed on a server revert on 2011-03-01)* The horse's color from birth is determined based on 1/3 by the mother, 1/3 by the father, and 1/3 by randomonce per hour.
== Traits =Notes===Bred animals have a chance of having traits.*Grooming can be done while moving (Enhancement/Deformityand while mounted). Animals can have multiple traits. Traits are gained based on mechanics below:* All traits are put into the gene pool.* Parents' trait then add %chance that traits from parents will appear. if both parents have same trait, this %chance is even a lot higher.* Inbreeding add %chance that bad traits will appear.* Animal Husbandry is only partially on the Curve. The curved value (effective skill) allows so long as you see traits at that level (do not true for bred in captivity trait which requires 60 numerical to see even on epic). But the actual value move too far away (numericaltwo tiles) is used for computing from the number of traits tile you can breed.* Lastly, breeder's Animal Husbandry affects the minimum and maximum number of traits that will appear in a horseare currently working on. (Currently the maximum number of traits experienced on one animal in game is 9 at 90+ AH)
Examining an == Shearing ==Shearing is another activity which gives animal will show traits, if one has the required husbandry skill level:.
* Activate Freedomscissors Skill Level (and select shear from the right-click menu on a Epicsheep Skill .* CurveWool Level) 'skill': "Trait name" (Suspected function)* 0 skill: Horse's color is considered a trait. (Although it DOES NOT go against the trait limit.)* 20 (10.56) skill: "It will fight fiercelybundles are put directly into your inventory upon shearing." (Higher fighting skill?)* 21 (11.12) skill: "It has fleeter movement than normal." (Minor speed boost.)* 22 (11.68) skill: "It is a tough bugger." (Withstands more damage.)* 23 (12.25) skill: "It has a strong body." (Bonus Sheared wool weight seems to maintaining top speed.)* 24 (12.82) skillvary depending on age: "It has lightning movementYoung 0." (Randomly increases speed for a short duration.)* 25 (13.40) skill: "It can carry more than average." (Less penalty to speed due to high load.)* 26 (13.98) skill: "It has very strong leg muscles1kg, Adolescent 0." (Less penalty to speed due to slope? Does not currently do this.)* 27 (14.56) skill: "It has keen senses." (Stays tame longer "keen sense of loyalty"2kg, Increased aggression range, or possibly harder to tame? All unconfirmed.)* 28 (15.15) skill: "It has malformed hindlegs." (Minor speed penalty)** 29 (15.74) skill: "The legs are of different length." (Major speed penalty)** 30 (16.33) skill: "It seems overly aggressive." (Goes into frenzy when attacked)** 31 (16.93) skill: "It looks very unmotivated." (Seldom uses speed boosts?)** 32 (17.54) skill: "It is unusually strong willed." (Will stop being led at random.)** 33 (18Mature 0.15) skill: "It has some illness." (Body strength will slowly reduce over time3kg, which will eventually making the animal unrideable. Note: Genesis will cause it to slowly regain strength up to it's old level.)** 34 (18.76) skill: "It looks constantly hungry." (is twice as fast to become hungry again.)** 39 (21.90) skill: "It looks feeble and unhealthy." (Prone to catching a disease.)** 40 (22.54) skill: "It looks unusually strong and healthy." (Has a higher resistance to disease.)* 41 (23.19) skill: "It has a certain spark in its eyesAged 0." (Affects breeding? <s>Will not die of old age?</s> Disproved4kg, Triggers the Lightning trait more often? see talk.)* 83 (58.77) skill: "Bred in captivityOld 0."(All "?" are unconfirmed5kg, traits with a * are removed by a Genesis cast)Venerable 0. Speed traits are described with bold6kg.
=== Inbreeding Notes===* Shearing can be done while moving, so long as you do not move too far away (two tiles) from the tile you are currently working on.* Shearing can not be done while mounted. == Breeding ==* Lead one animal with a rope (or any item should it be wearing a bridle) and approach the second.* When they are close enough together right click on the second animal and select the "Breed" option. ===Notes===*Neither animal should be hungry.**Animals do not have to be "fat" to breed, only "no longer interested in food" (when trying to feed them). Grass eaters will typically be in this state after a minute or 2 on grass or crops.**If too hungry or low on fat animals can die when giving birth.*Animals can have miscarriages which may kill the mother with no offspring spawned. Starving, off-deed, or on-deed below 15 ratio are known as the reasons for miscarriages.*Tamed animals who are pregnant can lose the baby if they go offline when you do.*Neither animal should be of same gender.*Both animals should be of the same species.*Some animals require taming before being led; this does not apply to the second animal.<!-- *Males will only breed once every 45 real minutes regardless of outcome. -- commented this for now as there could have been a silent change or bug -->*Females will not breed while they are pregnant. Once the female gives birth, she will not be in mood for breeding for 24 real hours.*Age is a factor in breeding: Juvenile animal types (calves, foals, lambs, and seal cubs) will not breed, neither will young/early adolescent animals. (Horses will breed at 25 rl days old)*Pregnancy times varies from 5-11 Wurm weeks, regardless of species. **Examining the animal will show the remaining days left until birth; for example, inline This is approximately 4 days, or 4 Wurm weeks.*Breeding female animals with conditions such as Champion will provide a chance that the offspring will also have that characteristic. This chance is dramatically increased when breeding two animals with the same condition together. (Two Champions for example.)*Breeding two animals with the same trait greatly increases the chance that the offspring will have the trait.*The horse name is determined at birth, the traits are determined at breeding.*The horse's color from birth is determined based on a combination of the mother's color, father's color, and random chance, similarly to traits.*Breeding can be done while moving, so long as you do not move too far away (two tiles) from the tile you are currently working on. ===Messages===; inline : breeding has failed, the male will not breed again for some time.; inline : the male will not breed again for some time.<!-- Changed the 45 minute suggestion due to this thread: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/112669-not-in-mood-cooldown-ah/ --- Need more information. --> === Traits ===Bred animals have a chance of gaining traits, enhancements or deformities. Animals may have multiple traits, those can be seen in the table below. All traits are put into the gene pool when breeding and those of the parents will increase the chance of the offspring having the same. Should both parents have the same trait the likelihood of the offspring gaining that trait is even higher.  *The breeder's Animal husbandry affects the minimum and maximum number of traits that will appear in a horse. The maximum number of traits you can breed into one animal is currently 8 at 80+ skill.**At lower levels, breeding animals with traits will generally result in around AH skill/10 amount of traits. i.e. 5 traits + 5 traits with 30 AH will most often result in 3 traits for the new animal, however there is some level of RNG and it is possible to obtain 4 and 5 traits from breeding at this level. Animal husbandry is only partially on the Curve. The curved value (effective skill) allows you see traits at that level (not true for bred in captivity trait which requires 60 numerical to see even on epic). But the actual value (numerical) is used for computing the number of traits you can breed.
Inbreeding Examining an animal will show traits if one has a negative effectthe required skill level. It adds extra negative traits that don't count against See the regular chart below for skill values required in succesfully examining and actually seeing specific traits poolpresent in an animal.

Players have observed that dead parents don't count towards the 'inbreeding' check:=== Inbreeding ===
"I have often used it as Inbreeding occurs when an offspring is bred with either of its parents or a method of breeding, sibling. Inbreeding has an increased chance to kill pass bad traits if the old parents when I had too many horses that had have bad traits, but does not inherently create a parent bigger chance for bad traits in the offspring. Inbreeding may be unavoidable in commonsmall herds; it's advised to seek neighbours to begin a herd if one wishes to avoid inbreeding. After the parents are dead, you  Inbreeding does not occur past 1 generation. You can breed and get normal horses. Leave grandchildren of the parents alive and you get lots of bad traited animalssame grandparents together with no inbreeding penalty." [http Important note://forum if an animal's parent is dead, the parent's name will no longer show up on examining the creature.wurmonlineThe game, however, still keeps track of who the parent was.com/index.php?/topic/65441-split-off-from-animal-congestion-fix/page__st__20#entry643716 Source]
Caring
To prolong venerable animals from dying of old age you can care they may be cared for them. To start caring care for an animal stand next to the animal, it and right click the animal and , select Care for. If you start caring for that animal you'll get the message: You now care specially for Aged fat Tearbabe, to ensure longevity. You may care for 1 more creatures. The amount life of animals you can care for is limited by the animal husbandry skill of the player. If you can't care for more animals you'll get after the message You may not care for any more creatures right now. You are already caring for 1 creaturesvenerable stage will be indefinite.
If you start caring for that animal this message will appear:
Note: Non-premium players can only The number of animals you may care for is determined by your Animal husbandry skill level.*1 animalmay be cared for plus 1 additional for every 10 skill in Animal husbandry.
To stop caring for all cared animals type the command /stopcaring in the chat window. You'll get the message You no longer care for the one creature you used to.=== Notes ===
* Hostile creatures must be tamed first before they can be cared for.* The total number of animals which may be cared for is limited by the Animal husbandry skill of the player. If the player is unable to care for more animals this message will appear:;*Non-premium players can only care for 1 animal.*The chat command /stopcaring will stop the player from caring for all animals. This message will appear:;inline*To stop caring for a specific animal, you will need to right click the animal and select 'care for' again.**You can also stop caring for a specific animal by right clicking on your inventory or body, then Manage>Animals.**A list of all the animals cared for may be listed by using the command /caringfor
You can get a list of all the animals you are currently caring for by using the command /caringfor
