Description
A white egg from a bird.
A small egg laid by a == Eggs ==* Eggs hendecay which similarly to other food items and can be eaten raw, used in numerous recipes.* Can be found by cookingForaging at Critter nest or let hatch into a chickenResource nodes. * Eggs found through foraging vary in quality, depending on your foraging skill.* Eggs also offer the unusual nondestructive ability to be "sucked", as right-clicking on an egg gives the option to Suck Egg. It will give you a weird feeling. This option is only available if you have no item active.
== Fertile Eggs ==* "Fertile eggs" offer a chance to hatch a baby chick; regular "eggs" do not.* Fertile eggs can also be found by foraging or can be produced by a hen in a foragingchicken coop or outside of a chicken coop. Chances of producing fertile eggs are much higher in hens stored in a chicken coop.* Roughly 10% - 20% of fertile eggs will hatch into chicks, though this percentage is believed to vary based on creature populations.* To attempt to hatch an egg, lay a fertile egg on any tile and allow it to decay. When it eventually reaches 100 damage, the fertile egg will either hatch a baby chick or decay to dust without any hatchling being produced.* Fertile eggs can be stored in a food storage binbut immediately turn to regular eggs which cannot be hatched.* Renaming the fertile egg sets the name for the hatched chick if a chick does successfully hatch. However, it does not keep the name when it becomes a hen or rooster
Usage
If eggs are left outside on the ground or in a container, they will decay. When they have fully decayed, a chicken may hatch. Note that any egg stored in a bulk container is no longer fertile. Upon examining an egg, you will see if it is fertile or not.
* Eggs must be placed on a Grass, Dirt tileCategory:Babel/E, or Crops in order to hatch.**10% of eggs will hatch into chicks, though this percentage likely varies based on creature populations. == Notes ==* Eggs weigh 0.10 and are always quality 99 if they are dropped from a hen.* Eggs found through foraging vary in quality, depending on your foraging skill.* Renaming the egg sets the name for the hatched chick. However it does not keep the name when it becomes a Hen or Rooster* The hatched chick will appear below you on the ground floor if you are on a higher floor at the time of hatching.* Eggs can be stored in a food storage bin** Note that eggs stored in a fsb no longer have the ability to be hatched.* Eggs also contain the unusual nondestructive ability to be "sucked", as right-clicking on an egg gives the option to Suck Egg. It will give you a weird feeling. This option is only available if you have no item active.
