The spyglass was a special item given out in Christmas 2006 to premium players at Newtown or the lights. Due to the server crash in April 2007, they have been lost but they are given back after the reset as trinkets (regardless of if you had one or not).
Spyglasses works like telescopes, allowing you to zoom your view in, increase your highlight distance and providing you with a distance measurement. This makes the spyglass useful for scouting the land, finding players or hunting targets and measuring exact tile distances at archery.
All spyglasses are made out of brass, but they cannot be created by players.
