Description

A mobile container used to transport cargo.

Subcomponents

Total Materials

Note: At very low fine carpentry skills, it is a good idea to make a couple of extra shafts and planks.

Notes

  • The first plank is lost if you fail the initial attachment.
  • The Quality of the cart affects its decay rate. Carts are naturally very resistant to damage.
  • The bulk of an item mostly affects how many fit into it. Carts with high weight need a high strength to drag.
  • Although carts cannot be dragged in water tiles, they can be pushed.
  • 6.05 kg of dye is needed to paint a cart.
  • An unfinished cart missing only one plank weighs 23.40, and will fit inside other carts and rafts for easy transport.

Strength vs. Drag Formula

  • Carts when finished weigh 60kg for some magical reason known only to Rolf.
  • (((Body Strength * 7) - (Amount of weight you're carrying)) * 10) - 60kg

Example:

  • Exampleman has 21 strength. He is carrying 20kg of tools.
  • 147kg carry capacity max - 20kg of weight carried. 127kg * 10 - 60kg = 1210kg of draggable weight.
  • Exampleman can only drag 80 bricks in his cart.

Useful Quantities

The following are the maximum hard-coded amounts of certain items a cart can hold, regardless of weight, due to their volume or other factors.

  • 40 units of dirt, sand, rock shards, or ore of any type assuming they are the base weight of 20kg.
  • 67 peat
  • 94 bricks
  • 100 clay assuming base weight of 2kg because of universal 100 item container limit. (Combining clay allows a cart or raft to carry several thousand kgs.)
  • 7 slabs
  • 9 logs
  • 2 felled trees

Building Items Inside Carts

This is a precarious thing to do since sometimes an item must be on the ground in order for it to be continued. Other times, the item may be too heavy to remove from the cart once finished. A patch was applied in October 2008 making it impossible to finish most items inside carts, including, but not restricted to, fountains.

A few amusing things that used to be able to be finished inside carts: Shrines. Fountains. Guard Towers. Forges (could not light them). Mailboxes.
