To build a staircase activate a [[hammer]] or [[mallet]] and right click the tile that contains a finished floor. Select Plan and a staircase type.
Note: On-ground floor paving(like [[Floor board]]) does not count as the finished floor, you actually have to use Plan -> Floor below, finish the floor and then build stairs on it. After which you can remove the floor that was made.
